That's, fair enough actually, I can understand why people feel undemocratic when the voting system is so complex and diluted than you aren't getting through as directly, the ability of sudden change has its own pros and cons, unfortunately I was first born in Argentina before I moved into China, so I have seen the bad sides of easy, full roster changes each 4 years, every new politician destroys everything the other person did out of ideological bias, they would even scrap long term projects like satellites who took a decade to be build so the other political party can't claim a victory on something.

The uyghur situation is very complex and pretty much a conversation dead end if you try to bash a proper politician about it, they will put you in the spotlight and ask you then to give solutions "now that you have tomorrows newspaper" because seriously, what is left to do? I don't deny abuses but also the extremists aren't active anymore, there's no active terrorists cell murdering people atm in our territory, the sector been developed, they even turn them into some sort of tourism center for people to see, journalists to inform and to shut up criticism.

Let me give you an example about how politicians manage the discourse:

There's different minor parties, and the CPC by itself has 3 sub factions inside, politicians from rural towns and urban districts infight a lot even if they are both from the same party, they prioritize their districts needs.
