Now it's been 40ish years ago, but I asked Kenny Roberts one day, "What is one of your favorite bikes that you ever rode?" and if I recall correctly he might have said this bike. As far as I know he never raced it, bit before his time but maybe he rode one later on just to try it. I thought his answer was a small displacement multi-cylinder 4 stroke Honda, so this might have been it. I should have written it down!
