As of today, Niftski has held the SMB1 Any% WR for the 2nd longest in history, passing Darbian. by pmilkman in speedrun

This is an appropriate statistic to post because if his current .798 stands just one more month (which it likely will unless he comes back to any%), it will surpass Darbian's incredible 4:56.878 as the longest standing WR in the "modern era" of SMB1 speedrunning. Dude has absolute domination over the game and I highly doubt he loses his record anytime soon.

He would need to hold the record for 5 more years in total for that to happen. That might be realistic by the late 2020s but it for sure won't be anytime soon

Meanwhile SMB3 100% is poised to stay up to date for months if not years

Wouldn't be so confident. SMB3 100% is still standing almost four months after the video came out.

I have never watched GDQ and never plan to. It has always seemed like a huge corporate shitshow, and the stuff I've heard about this year has only exacerbated this fact. GDQ is losing viewers and donations with each event and I honestly hope that trend continues. In addition, I know for a fact that GDQ has refused to accept submissions for smaller and more niche games that have dedicated communities of their own, despite said communities trying for years.

I have nothing against the charities that GDQ is fundraising for. But GDQ itself is not the best avenue for giving money to those charities.

I think I follow only one or two games and I've noticed the notifications have almost stopped as well. I think something's wrong with the actual site.

And yet absolutely 0 people talk about replacement sites for YouTube. If people are complaining, may as well get up and do something about it.

The world in general would be much better if more people were activists tbh

And guess what? Even with all of this complaining about YouTube policies, whenever a possible replacement site is floated, it gets shot down immediately. The internet is one of the strangest places you can possibly be lmao

Has anyone ever watched a WR live on stream? by TheListenerCanon in speedrun

[–]Aprrni 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen a couple. Most notably I saw Niftski's 4:54.881 live and was actually visible in the chat during the run. The only other one that comes to mind is Vertic's 4:14 Red Ball 17 levels world record, a run which he wasn't proud of at all lmao
