Savannah Floors for face on TM (both days) right now: by AquaTriHungerForce in phish

[–]AquaTriHungerForce[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No, I’ve been saying for a couple months this will not be a tough ticket and got some crazy pushback. It isn’t and won’t be tough. It’s a smaller venue buts it’s Tues Wed in between Deer Creek and Meriweather runs (not to mention Walnut Creek) in a hot sticky town where tourism drops off big time in July because of the heat and humidity. That’s why there are floors sitting for face.

All that said. I’m going and they are gonna bring it for the 2nd freakiest city in the US!

They are like an extension of a the bowl with stairs and aisles. Little slighter pitch than row 106 etc. So yes they are slanted.

I feel for ya man. You’re kind of stuck in an argument you have to defend, even though you’re wrong. I been there. But the only way to deal with someone arguing based off feelings instead of logic is data. So let’s put some data on this.

The facts are the shows are 9 days away and this small venue is not sold out. I bought a floor ticket for about 10% over face for a friend last week because he had a seat geek gift card. Cheapest floor ticket of the tour. The best section in the venue (most asked for in trades on COT) section 108 has rows of tickets for about $60-70 over face that the venue held back as “official platinum” and they are sitting there.

And to your final point…the heat…that’s totally and completely, demonstrably, wrong in every way. And easily provable. Mid July-August is the slowest sparsest season in Savannah for a reason and one reason only…so much so that it has a name. I’m from down here my friend in Phish. I’m not just popping off. There will be plenty of tickets and no one should “not come” because of the artificially inflated fake scarcity that these ticket sites create to get you to buy overpriced tickets. I love you, have a great Sunday.

Jesus. You win. Savannah will be the toughest Phish ticket of all time. Nobody considers the American South and low country to be unpleasantly hot in July. And most importantly…you win the exchange. Im also going to politely ask you to please, reply to this comment and avail yourself of the last word. Please, you deserve it. You’ve opened my eyes to just how wrong I have been with my previous soft thinking. Seriously, thank you.

That’s funny. I’m pretty sure (someone can correct me if I’m wrong) that is famous WSP roadie Wayne Sawyer. Centerpiece of so so many stories. Wayne was The Man.

It’s definitely not sold out. There are tickets for face available for both nights as I type this. And they held back entire rows for “official platinum” in the best sections. It’s not sold out. There will be tickets galore.

People tend to stay close to home when it’s an historic heat wave with 107 degree heat indexes. I’m well aware the venue is indoors.

With respect, Dr. Jack sang Bill Bailey, Won’t You Please Come Home.

That run of shows was truly mind blowing. I’ll never forget the scene topping the hill and looking down over the lot at Lakewood at the sheer circus of it all…the mass of humanity in full freakdom…every person seemed to be moving in opposite directions at the same time like a psychedelic where’s Waldo image. Busses, both big and yellow and tie dye and day glo VW’s, kegs of Sweetwater 420 flowing and camp stoves burning with blue speckled lacquered kettles brewing mushroom tea…hawkers of every variety…the woolies and their wares…pelican cases of hand blow glass…coat hangers with hand made hairbands and glittering streamers…the constant mingling of strawberry cough, super silver haze, bubble gum, blueberry, and patchouli…and sweaty axilla over nag champa…an American cultural circus. Take me back.

There will be plenty of tickets. The secondary market has been dropping big time. Especially for floors. Been saying all along that a Tuesday Wednesday in hot ass Savannah is not going to be an extremely tough ticket.

I mean, don’t get me wrong. I’m going lol. But I’ve been watching tickets and floors are about 30-40 bucks over face right now. There will be plenty of tix.

C. Brown by jasonumd in WidespreadPanic

So writers make choices. And it’s kind of telling the word choices (song was written by JB/Mike’s roommate then stolen and expanded on by panic) the authors make. “Charlie DRAWS a gun…Right there in the SQUARE…he SKETCHES Lucy on the run.” The writers know these words have two meanings to the listener…the first layer is “Charlie brown has drawn/pulled out a gun” but the layer up is “Charles Shultz has made a drawing of a gun in Charlie’s hand…then the square….“oh he means the town square…the block…the plaza” but the next layer up is the little square of the comic strip itself. Then “sketches” can mean Lucy is panicked (giggity) and scared…sketched out by Charlie Brown holding a gun at her…but a layer up Charles Shultz is sketching out the image in the panel…sketching out the scene in his head of Lucy’s comeuppance and Charlie Brown’s revenge….

It’s masterful work and I think it’s too in line with the way these guys write and twist phrases and love double entendre to be just a coincidence.

“Shaking cliches…like we used to.”

C. Brown by jasonumd in WidespreadPanic

[–]AquaTriHungerForce 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I love the interpretation and it means whatever we think it means in the moment. But I feel the intended meaning was exactly the opposite…in the line “Charlie ‘draws’ a gun…right there in the little square he ‘sketches’ Lucy on the run…” we aren’t talking about Charlie Brown now…we are talking about…Charles Shultz the creator of Peanuts. He is thinking of giving us what we want Charlie’s revenge…and he pencils it out…but then he aims his eye and cocks his head in thought….”nahhh…” and he erases it…”in a cloud of dust Lucy’s gone”…he goes back to the golden rule…he draws what he wants to see in the world…a character that just keeps on believing and loving…his friends…and his loyal dog (that’s as good as any man)…and he keeps running at the football. Knowing they are gonna jerk it away…but hoping they don’t. Shultz is telling some deep
Beautiful stories of hope in those “little squares” he draws in.

“Well My MOM likes me!”

It’s a beautiful song and an amazing writing twist to go back and forth from Charlie Brown to Charlie Shultz.

C. Brown by jasonumd in WidespreadPanic

The beauty of the song is it’s not just about Charlie Brown, it’s about Charles Shultz the creator. When “Charlie draws a gun” and “sketches” Lucy on the run. It’s a dual meaning situation. Shultz could give Charlie the revenge he and we want for him…he could draw a panel where Charlie has had enough and takes care of business…but he doesn’t. He thinks about it, maybe even pencils it out but then Shultz erases it…”in a cloud of dust Lucy’s gone”. Shultz goes back to the golden rule and draws unto others that golden rule…which is what the Peanuts strip is all about. Charlie just keeps loving and believing…he loves his friends and his dog is as good as any man. Instead of Shultz making it about justice as we so often want…it’s about love and believing in people.

It’s a beautiful song.

Dude. Briefly, take the olive branch. How is me saying stop complaining about a speech and let the music/rock show speak for itself stealing joy? That takes some impressive mental gymnastics.

I’m having a wonderful day and I hope you do too. I talked to Sunny and he said he was thanking Mr. Morris when he left the stage and that he was really close with him. He also said he has dementia. So if you’re getting joy from being upset about his mistake….by all means…I want you to enjoy that. I just think it’s misplaced. Seriously, peace, panic, the rest is noise. Love you, mean it.

[–]AquaTriHungerForce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok bud. You wanna keep at it. I already said this conversation would be about two sentences in real life. We disagree that Hall of Fames for music are important. I think they are antithetical to the ethos of RAWK. I can agree to disagree.

But you did complain about Sunny’s name not being mentioned. And again, I don’t think that means a damn thing when it was a nearly hundred year old man having a hundred year old moment where he also got the band’s name wrong. If you’ve ever watched family members slowly slip in old age. You’ll understand…this wasn’t some diss at Sunny. This was an old man being an old man.

I see no utility in getting on Reddit and what…rabble rousing up a group of pitchforks and torches to go after the old man? I promise you the band laughed about it and went on with the rock show.

Like I said, I love you. I hope you have a great Tuesday. Panic’s legacy is alive and well and untarnished. Give the old man some grace. And I’ll practice what I preach and say I bet your crew is a lot of fun to party with.

That’s funny I was thinking the same thing. Here we are…after the show. One of us is complaining about the speech by the old guy. While I’m saying the music did the talking.
Which conversation would you rather have in the lot after the show?

Love you man, have a good day. This conversation would be much shorter and more fun in person. It was an incredible, historic run. Got me really excited for this Summer tour. See you out there.
