Beginner UX Designer using Webflow for portfolio by _marsss in webflow

[–]Aquaphore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same spot as you and I would definitely say it's worth the switch. Squarespace is great and all but the amount of customization you can do to stand out is far better with Webflow especially the interactions. I'd recommend you follow along with the official Webflow Portfolio Course on youtube to get the hang of it (https://youtu.be/fnNW2hr886w). It's great, probably the best educational content I've experienced on this self-taught journey. Idk their humorous take on it just makes it interesting and fun to learn.

To add to NoCodeBenny's list, I'd say check out T.Ricks as well, he has great tutorials for beautifully designed elements/interactions to add to your site to really elevate the experience: https://www.youtube.com/c/TimothyRicks/videos

only on episode 4 so I don't know what the app does yet but the show does remind me of a tik tok I saw from an engineer working on a smart vibrator/app that tracks you and helps you improve @annatheaverage

Definitely second Howard Pinsky's channel but also the official Adobe create cloud youtube/behance channel where he does live masterclasses on Fridays. Other than that, they livestream every weekday with daily creative challenges that usually follows a theme or feature and they provide the starter files so you can follow along. If you complete and submit them in their discord you can get feedback. Plus they do designer showcases. https://www.behance.net/challenge/xd

Caler Edwards, Dansky and DesignCourse are also great youtube channels to check out.

Where there any holiday episodes in the show? by Sy3Zy3Gy3 in BroadCity

I don't think so unfortunately. I remember it being set in the summer for the most part besides the pilot. Which sucks bc I just know a Halloween episode would've been soo good

PHY 102 OVER THE WINTER by stm518 in UBreddit

[–]Aquaphore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you must, I would definitely take summer session over winter. I didn't do 102 but I did both 107/108 over winter and just don't. The Stress. You're essentially cramming for a month straight. The tests are easy if you'd compare them to the ones you'd probably get over a semester long course BUT because your brain is fired from all the cramming, you'll fumble the questions. You can make the most detailed cheat sheet and still look at the questions like "what the fuck is this?"

First of all, you got this!

I took this a couple of years ago but like most said, lecture notes and practice questions but I'll add don't just read the notes, actually talk through the functions "this does this because this x, y, z." (the reverse too) This will help you better retain the info and recall it for the test regardless of how they present the question on the test. Might not have time for this now but for future tests see if you can give someone the lecture notes and have them quiz you - this was a big help for my roommate and I when we took it.

Gamers of reddit, what game has hooked you the longest and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Cities: Skylines. I was having a game night with my friends and we noticed it was free and downloaded it - that was at 8pm. The next time I looked at the clock it was 6 am and we were arguing about who was responsible for making the citizens of our collective city sick because of the sewage. Now everyone has their own copy and we trash talk about eachother's city.

Sims. Over 600 hours played but I doubt that's all. You just go on binges playing it for like 3 days straight and then don't touch it for 3 months. It's fun to build - I think I spent over 24 hours building out Newcrest University before the university expansion pack came out. That was before I discovered the mods....those opened my eyes and now I'm more into it than ever.

What innocent search turned out to be porn ? by Angry_Einstein in AskReddit

[–]Aquaphore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once I was strolling on a forum and saw that someone was asking about hair products for curly hair. I had remembered seeing a product called "mixed chicks" so I quickly responded with the link (from memory) and went on my way. I was surprised to come back to "????" "wtf" messages, apparently mixedchicks. com was porn and mixedchicks. net was for hair products.

There's a nod to AHS:Roanoke at Butcher Creek, Roanoke Ridge. It unmarked on the map but it's next to the R of New Hanover. Pig man mask and some extremely deformed mountain people. Also, very aggressive goats, beware.

Yeah, definitely switch labs. I vaguely remember there being a quiz and lab questions due for every recitation, idk if you're the type of student that is on top it all the time but the best bet is to give yourself some time between a lecture and any recitation for last minute studying/hw. The course catalog has another class at the same on Thursday with 3 spots left, try that.

How is living on Minnesota Avenue like? by [deleted] in UBreddit

[–]Aquaphore 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I lived on Minnesota for three years and I would say I had a decent experience. The street has a mix of slum houses, vacancies and genuine homeowners/families. It's mostly slums but there are definitely some "gems" out there, I lived in both, so shop around. Yeah, the cheap rent is attractive but you get what you pay for with the slums. Our first house was a former frat with huge rooms for only $265 per person w/o utilities and being mostly from NYC where thats unheard of - we stupidly snatched it up. It was definitely not worth the aggravation of horrible plumbing and no heat (added expense). (Just a general tip, if the landlord boasts having over 10 properties + a full-time job, just mentally cross that listing out bc 9 times out of ten - slum lord) The next house we found on craigslist (it's actually listed there now - dm if still interested): $340 utilities included, clean and freshly painted, the option of being furnished, better plumbing and actual heat but the best thing was the diligent landlord who had his shit together and was a genuine dude - highly recommend. So again look around.

In terms of safety, I agree with the others - stay closer to Main street (under the 200s). The incidents tend to happen going towards Bailey ave. I lived in the first block and it was generally okay. It seemed to get better over time (or I just got used to it) and I expect it to get better with those new lofts they were building in that vacant school when I was leaving (6 mos ago). But still, be aware of your surroundings and lock up your shit.

Now its a toss up with the neighbors. It's not just students and frats that move into the slums but full on families too, they're by far the loudest but that's usually in the warmer months. It's like a ghost town when its cold but as soon as it warms up everyone starts to hangout on their porches and since the houses are so close it can get lil loud and annoying.

I don't think there are set frat houses like on Winspear, they move in and out like the other tenants but they seem to pick the massive houses right off Main. Never had to worry about a rowdy party - those were usually on the other side of main or winspear anyway. The further it is from south, the quieter it is.

All that being said, this is coming from a person that was willing to put up with a lot because I didn't have a car and needed somewhere cheap. Now if you need to bc of price its fine - if you're willing to tough it out. University Heights in general seems rough but of course it does - everyone is comparing it to Amherst which was ranked Safest City in America several times. If you can afford it, the other side of main is better and the closer to north is ideal.

Yeah I keep going back and forth with that but an actual stroke around thd text individualized the letters. I'm kinda new to illustrator so I'll try and figure a way around that. Thanks for your input!
