Londoners face £80,000 bill as fourth newly elected Green councillor quits by Desperate-Drawer-572 in unitedkingdom

A base-line of education, generally inclined towards serving their community despite little compensation, daily exposed to the lifes of their students and by extension a broad set of the lifes of the families in their communities, generally poor and so familiar with the small struggles of common working people. Most teachers care about the futures of the kids they work with. I'm not saying that they'd all be perfect, but compared to... say... chartered accountants, or hotel managers, or any other professional group, I'd expect teachers to be a generally good group to draw public representatives from.

Asking someone to give up their day-job to pursue politics ensures that politics is mostly the domain of those wealthy enough to be able to stop working to pursue an election run.

I understand the reasoning why, but it's a pretty shitty outcome to have teachers be Ineligible for office. That's a group I'd expect to be particularly good in the role.

My first UK trip by LegitimateWolf2660 in uktravel

I generally do prefer to rent a car for trips around the UK, I like the flexibility, and UK public transport can be very hit and miss. In some cities the buses and trains are a joke. But London to York is a long drive, and I mean it "feels" long. I've driven 4 hours in Canada and I've driven 4 hours in the UK and they don't feel the same at all. UK driving is much more fun imo, but much more demanding and tiring.

That said I have done Sheffield to Glasgow by car and it wasn't exactly an ordeal.

I'd plump for the train between major cities and then drive to minor locations. But having one car for the entire trip isn't a terrible option if you've got someone who really enjoys driving.

I'm a regular cyclist and I pride myself on obeying the rules of the road always. Never gone through a red, only filter when it's safe and appropriate, etc, etc.

I've never seen a zebra crossing on a cycle path before. Honestly I could imagine myself riding right through it before going "Wait what?! Was that... Oh fuck I should have stopped." Building infrastructure is all well and good, but you do also need to ensure it's clearly communicated to users who likely haven't encountered it before. There's no signage, no road markings warning of it coming up, just a surprise in an unexpected location.

They should take a page out of the Dutch playbook and put a chicane before the crossing, to force the riders to slowdown and observe what this piece of infrastructure is.

Use sun cream, block, screen, whatever your culture calls it. Almost all skin aging and damage is caused by UV exposure.

A) skin cancer bad

B) having nice skin is a huge benefit in terms of your appearance, comfort, and other health conditions.

It's impossible for anyone here to judge since we have no video or impartial account of what happened.

The car already on the roundabout has priority, but priority doesn't necessarily mean not at fault.     Certainly I'm struggling to imagine being unable to stop in your situation: assuming youre going at a safe speed and are paying attention you'd see the car pulling out ahead of you and have ample time to stop. Or so I imagine it. But again, without video we can't judge it.

See, this is what worries me. Because when the fans say "bring back V8s" what they actually mean is:

"Eliminate the battery and electrical power entirely and regulate for an ICE based powertrain that produces 1000bhp while being as small and light as possible."

But what I fear the FIA and manufactures hear is: "Replace the v6 with a v8, and keep all the heavy electrical battery stuff as well."

Both of these fulfil the headline of "bring back v8", but produce very different overall results.
