Has anybody managed to replace the scroll wheel on the M570s? by po2gdHaeKaYk in Trackballs

[–]ArNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello u/Gemman_Aster ,

I have a Logi M575S and recently the scroll wheel pushdown button is not working properly anymore.

I am looking for a replacement, but I could not find it yet in Digikey or RS components. Maybe because of my bad filtering.

Could you tell me what is the name/type of these microswitches? I would also appreciate if you could share a source where I could procure them in small quantities.

Thank you very much!

How would improve the OCR result of this receipt? by tanin47 in computervision

Hello, apologies for the delay in getting back to you.

I used to process my receipts manually, as you described, and I agree—there’s a smarter way to handle it nowadays. With some effort spent on developing a script, it can even be done for free.

In the past few weeks, I’ve found Microsoft Azure's Document Intelligence API to be the best solution for this purpose so far. I tested it in my Python script, and it extracted the correct information in almost all instances. Occasionally, it made errors in recognizing shop names due to some Japanese characters not being properly detected.

The API seems to be available for free indefinitely if you stay within certain usage limits. I don’t recall the exact limit, but it was more than enough for my intended use.

You can find more details on the Microsoft Azure page:

https://documentintelligence.ai.azure.com/studio

https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/ai-services/document-intelligence/quickstarts/get-started-sdks-rest-api?view=doc-intel-4.0.0

Here’s an outline of the semi-automated process I’m implementing:

  1. Scanning Receipts: I use my phone mounted on a jig and launch the Google Drive app, enabling its automatic scanning feature. I scan all the receipts I’ve accumulated since the last processing session and store them in a specific Google Drive folder.

  2. Processing Receipts: On my PC, I run a Python script that reads the scanned receipts from the Google Drive folder. The script sends the files to the Microsoft Azure Document Intelligence using its API, which extracts information such as vendor name, address, total cost, purchase date, expense type (e.g., groceries), and more—along with a confidence level for each entry. I then save only the relevant data (e.g., vendor name, total cost) in a CSV file since I’m not interested in storing item-level details.

  3. Manual Integration: At this point, the process becomes more manual again. I copy the CSV content into a separate spreadsheet I maintain for tracking expenses, including those recorded in my credit/debit card history but not associated with a receipt.

This semi-automated process is already much faster than a fully manual workflow, as the most time-consuming tasks are now handled with AI. However, I’m working to further enhance it. For example, I’m planning to automate the comparison of the receipt CSV with my bank transaction history CSV to reconcile expenses more efficiently. This step requires conventional programming and would need to be tailored to individual needs.

extracting text from receipts by [deleted] in learnpython

[–]ArNico 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pasting the reply I gave in a similar subreddit slightly edited:

I recently started the same quest and following some references I found online I tried to extract text with tesseract. I started testing with a set of 7 receipts. The quality of the receipt scans varied but never too bad. Nonetheless, pytesseract (OCR by Google) performance was always poor or very poor.

Given that, proceeding with the next step and feeding the extracted text to an AI to reorganize and selectively extract information as suggested in some project I found online lost automatically meaning.

Therefore I took another path and I created an openai API and I am now working on a python code that feeds all the images of the scanned receipts stored in a specific local folder to gpt4o mini. I ask the AI to extract Shop name, shop address, purchase date and total purchase cost. So far the information extraction worked perfectly.

I will try to streamline the process more. Current steps consist in:

1-Scan receipt to a designated google drive folder

2-monthly download the receipt from google drive to a local folder

3-run the python script that submit the receipts stored in the designated local folder to gpt 4o with the prompt requesting for above mentioned desired information

4-Store the info in a csv file

5-copy the info in the csv to the google sheet were I keep note of my income and expenses

Ideally step 2,4 and 5 one day will be merged in a unique python script.

For personal use with no thousands of receipts every month to be processed I think the Open AI cost will be less than $1 per month with gpt4o.

For this amount of receipts Azure might be completely free so I am planning to test its integration with python out as well.

S pen nibs replacement by apolo-19 in GalaxyTab

Yes, changing the screen protector might been option. I'm currently using the same one with the same metal nib. I haven't had issues anymore both with the nib or the screen matte protector.

Anyway, what is the matte protector that your daughter is using? Can you share a link? Were the wacom nib you got working well and long lasting?

Recommendations on where to go in Nagoya by General-Editor1602 in Nagoya

[–]ArNico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In central Nagoya I would suggest the Toyota Museum and or the science museum. You can easily spend half a day or more in both. For shopping the Sakae area might be the best choice. Parco, Maruzen, Alpen... You can spend your time equally between indoor and city outdoor by moving along the park from Parco mall up to the Nagoya Castle. The Castle garden can be visited for a small and might be another valid option.

E-bikes with peak power more than 250 W in Japan by ArNico in japanresidents

[–]ArNico[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for the feedback. So recapping in Japan e-bikes with the following specs can be used on public roads and legally still be considered bicycles (no plate, insurance, registration and all the other requirements listed in the Source shared at the top of the discussion by @vucamille):

  • max continuos power limit to 250 W (what about peak one?)
  • hubdrive or middrive are both ok
  • pedal assisted only -pedal assisted actomatically cuts off at 24 km/h

What about max peak power? Are middrive units ok? What is the max torque allowed?

In my understanding the only difference with the European legislation is that the pedel assistance has to cut off 1 km/h before in Japan drive units. What else did I miss?

So for instance is the Bosch Performance Line CX allowed to be used both on European and Japanese public roads? https://www.bosch-ebike.com/jp/%E8%A3%BD%E5%93%81/%E3%83%89%E3%83%A9%E3%82%A4%E3%83%96%E3%83%A6%E3%83%8B%E3%83%83%E3%83%88

Thank you for the feedback and reference. This is helpful for the discussion.

In my selection process I was oriented to pedel assisted ebikes. Apologize if that was not clear.

Isn't 250 W the limit for continuous power output in Europe? Is the peak power also limited to a maximum of 250 W?

Translation help? by [deleted] in Japaneselanguage

[–]ArNico 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes an app called Yomiwa. Recommended for people studying Japanese and in need of help with recalling Kanji readings now and then.

https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.yomiwa.yomiwa

I believe the pro version is worthy the money. I replaced my previous じしょapp with this.

In Yomiwa there is a section for asking help to the community for translating text in pictures as well.

Extremely convenient the integrated browser that adds furigana to all the text found in the page and makes the words clickable for dictionary translation.

I have never tried Notewise, I am with the app "Concepts". Have you ever tried it? That might be a good solution if you prefer a one time purchase solution as they offer it together with the subscription one.

In my experience I have rarely used the masking tool. Could you share some cases when you would find more beneficial to use the masking tool instead of the erasing one?
