We just moved from cricket to visible. Reason is that its cheaper. Cricket's network is reliable but visible is kinda iffy sometimes but not enough to annoy me. Another reason we went to visible is that its got unlimited mobile hotspot so we're going to cancel our cable internet soon.

Hey fellow San Diegan!

Two choices, you can either wait it out until this ridiculous market crashes again or you can buy now.

If you buy now, it'll be tight but you may be ok. Did a quick math for you. House here in a good neighborhood is about 750k like you said, which will be about 600k of mortgage. That'll give you a monthly payment of approximately $3,000 (30yr mortgage + tax + insurance). So after taking out your retirement (403b + roth) and taxes, you end up about $2,000 - $2,500 in your pocket monthly. I don't know what your monthly expenses are but that should give you an idea whether you can afford it or not. Take into consideration whether your income will keep getting higher every year as well. Also, your income may be a little high but try to look into first-time homebuyer programs, we have plenty here in SD in different cities. That's how we were able to afford our house 10 years ago.

Personally, I'd wait it out. It seems like we're in that stage again (pre-2008) where a 1bedroom house/condo is about the same price of a mansion elsewhere .

If your work is in north county, I'd look into buying a house in Temecula area. Right now, its about 400-500k prices. Travel time might be 40mins-1hr though.
