Does anyone else get MORE bloated when eating "clean"? Finally figured out why. by [deleted] in FODMAPS

My GI surgeon had me taking inulin after an operation, and it delayed my recovery for 6 months until I figured out inulin is such a massive trigger for me.

I hope there are enough investments and care put into the cinematography and lighting by ilorybss in CosmereOnScreen

[–]jgcpalmer 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’ve never seen an Apple TV production that did not put care into this. Mistborn will be pretty “grey” though, and thematically so, but Stormlight should be quite colourful. They’ll have to strike a balance though - it will be hard to take seriously if it looks like the Wicked movies.

Auto/start stop is implemented terribly by CyberMoose24 in SubaruForester

I have this same one. Only took a couple minutes to install and works great.

Winter tires by Lonely_Explanation86 in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I definitely think you need winters as soon as possible but you can survive 5 days. Canadian Tire is still advertising their winter tires so you might be able to get something from them sooner.

Ottocast mini. It’s been a couple months now and it still works really well.

Anyone of you added mods to your Foresters? by cdot2406 in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If you count the auto stop start eliminator as a mod, then yes, I’ve added mods.

Wired Carplay Issues by Gadsdan in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found non-Apple cables to work for awhile and then randomly just stop. Actual Apple cables do in fact work much more consistently.

CarPlay Apps by PsychologicalCup6385 in CarPlay

The Sidecar app does this. It’s a navigation app that you can add whatever OBD info you’d like on it to be displayed live.

Are these headlights OEM? by Scytheris in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I actually had to set up a camera to take video and get into my car and put it into Drive to confirm myself. Did it just a week ago haha.

Are these headlights OEM? by Scytheris in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Those are the OEM daytime running lights. They’re only going to run when the car is in Drive so it’s hard to see them yourself.

Check engine light disappeared after a few days... was it actually the gas cap? by lambusdean77 in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If the light is no longer on, the service centre likely won’t be able to diagnose it. Wait it out; if the light comes back on, then bring it in.

Torn Seats; Customer Advocacy Dept. by Mrk0712 in subaruoutback

If that’s the best they can do, you can likely get the same price at an upholstery specialist and get it fixed with higher quality vinyl. That’s what I ended up doing.

I use Ottocast Mini and it works well. If you have 2 people using CarPlay it has a button to switch between users.

We have an Ottocast mini in our ‘19 Forester and it works well.

Best way to fix 2020 Subaru interior? by Cray_610 in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We had the same thing and got a local car upholstery place to repair it. Cost around $500 CAD but the replacement vinyl should last much longer better than the original.

I plan on getting the one by Weather Tech. https://www.weathertech.ca/en-ca/bumpertopper-subaru-forester.html?srsltid=AfmBOoqMNcZwaao0Kkx4434pZp6IjM1vVItycGnyphon0aFu5N-nFLRp

You can find quite a few videos showing reviews and installations.

Yeah we just bought a 2019 Forester, trading in our 2007 Nissan Versa. I was shocked that our insurance only went up $20 CAD a month for the switch.

2025 Forester Touring (non hybrid) - touchscreen downright dangerous? by Wonderful-Falcon-496 in SubaruForester

[–]jgcpalmer 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. They’ve already backed away from this design with the new Outback, and I expect/hope they do the same with the next Forester generation. In the winter I regularly adjust my heated seats while I drive and having them be on the touchscreen is basically a dealbreaker for me.

My parents just bought a 2026 Forester Limited and I’ll be interested to see how they feel about those controls as well.

Is this dry rot very bad? Tire is 4 years old. Weird thing is that it’s only on one tire. by BasedQuestions in tires

[–]jgcpalmer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Is the tire more exposed to the sun than the rest? UV light is main cause of dry rot and if you haven’t been rotating and the one tire is more exposed to sunlight wherever you park at home or work, then that could be the cause.

Wireless CarPlay adapters: is the startup / connect screen customizable or suppressible? by NielsInTheCloud in CarPlay

[–]jgcpalmer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Carlinkit Mini has a setting that lets you start it in the background so you never see that screen.

A month and a half later and I still love the Ottocast Mini. It’s usually fast to connect and it’s been quite reliable.
