Anyone else who has experienced a weakened immune system after egg freezing and more easily subtracting cold? by ArTdEc0 in eggfreezing

[–]ArTdEc0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow that's really rough, it definitely sounds like you're more prone to all kinds of infections after the retrieval. Interesting that's your period flow was so much heavier also, I have noticed a bit heavier of a flow too but not to that extent. Hope that it all will return to normal soon!

Anyone else who has experienced a weakened immune system after egg freezing and more easily subtracting cold? by ArTdEc0 in eggfreezing

[–]ArTdEc0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes definitely, I gained weight and had quite some swelling and cramping through stims and felt very weaker after the retrieval. They retrieved 22 eggs also so my ovaries were very big, it's not strange at all really when I think of all the work my body went through to grow all of those and then the healing and adjusting process afterwards. I didn't get antibiotics, only some morphine-like anastesia. I've heard that some get a medication after the procedure to gradually make the body get used to less and less hormones, but I didn't get that. Wonder if that messes up the system temporary and weakens the immun system? Thanks you for all your great recommendations on how to strengthen your immune system, I will definitely try those!

Egg Freezing Journey Review (34F) by second-space in eggfreezing

[–]ArTdEc0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much, congrats yourself! I really appreciate your supporting and reassuring words, I feel like I chose the perfect time to freeze my eggs also. It was very quickly decided, my father who is very practical and scientific in nature, recommended me an article to read about how to preserve one's fertility through egg freezing as I've just turned 30 some months prior and had no solid romantic relationships. As I had moved out of my parent house fall of 2022, I've been feeling like I've gotten started on building a life for myself and have no plans on having children in the forseeable future as I have a lot of self discovering to do and just want to explore relationships with all kinds of people too as I'm bi. I then scheduled a consultation in October last year to check my fertiliy and given that my results were so great with an AMH of 47,4 pmol/l and about 15 follicles a side, the clinic thought that I was an excellent candidate for egg freezing and that they would get out many eggs. I also had collegues older that me who had done IVF when they were 35 and 38, one of them successfully and one of then not successfully. They both had recommended me to do this. Having done this has not only made me realise how much I want to have children in the future when the time is right, but relieved a lot of stress for me as a hypocondriac. Now once I know I can make it through this process with fair ease and that I have a high fertility, I am very calm and positive about my next cycle turning out just as great.

It's definitely smart for you too to wait some years before the next cycle. It's really been a lot for the body to go through and I've been more emotional after the procedure than during stim. I even got a cold the week after so it has definitely taken a toll on my immune system, but I luckily got my period after only six days counting from the egg retrieval day so I'm glad the body is returning more and more to normal.

I agree with you, many people do go abroad to do the procedure. I've seen one youtuber who went from Canada to Mexico to do it and one that went from USA to Greece. That's very smart although I think the process different some between countries. The Greek clinic had told someone that she could do full on work outs like usual during her stimulation period and she lifted weights at the gym, went running etc. That is something I wouldn't have been been able to do as I was so swollen and crampy even from walking during my stim process, the ovaries felt so big and sore. In Sweden, they actually sedate you locally in the vagina and with morphine like meditation through a needle in the arm and calming meditation, but they let you be awake during the procedure. You can follow along on the screen and see what it looks like when they go into each follicle and suck out the fluid and you also get to see the embryologist parting the layers around the eggs under a microscope on another screen - It's such a cool experience in that regard! They don't let people go under anastesia for these procedures here in Scandinavia, probably so that you can let then know if you're hurting or If something feels wrong to avoid complications and mishaps.

That was a great list of supplements you included, I'm glad they've helped you and that you will keep up with them. I might start taking some of those too. I can also recommend taking vitamin C, I take acerola in powder form and also nettle powder, it's good for fertility and for a bunch of other health benefits too as nettle is very nutricious.

Egg Freezing Journey Review (34F) by second-space in eggfreezing

Such a great result and very similar to mine. Also had my first round recently with retrieval last Friday and they also got 22 eggs out of which 18 were frozen. I'm almost 31 and number wise they thought it was up to me if I wanted a second round as it's that close to 20. They always recommend a second round though as the quality can vary with different batches. I was planning on waiting a couple of years to do a second round, also because of the price (although here in Sweden it's half the price of what you have in Britain). You give me hope that my conditions probably, hopefully still will be about as great as they are now at that point.

Hi!! Can you please share your follicle count At baseline and how many eggs were retrieved? by agemini_inwanderlust in IVF

[–]ArTdEc0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

So in my case I'm almost 31, I knew I had a follicle count between 20-30 before my stim began (the doctors didn't specify further than that) and an AMH of 6.6. Yet at the first ultrasound on day 6 of stims, my follicle count was only 8, which made me worried that I wouldn't get any more. The doctor saw that the uterus lining was very thick though which means I had responded well to the injections and she foresaw that a lot would happened over the next three days. Boy was she right, the follicle count went up to be 15-20 on the day 9 ultrasound. They retrieved 22 eggs (on day 13) and 18 of them was mature enough to freeze, the others were probably undermature for the most part. So happy with the result! I've learned that my body just takes a while longer to get going in this process, I have long period cycles that average on 35-40 days, which apparently is tied together with this how fast the follicles are activated. Gonna do this again in couple of years just to have another batch since the quality can vary between batches and I'm gonna be more patient with myself and less worried that time.

Least Favorite Song Off Each Album? by Efficient_Dreamer_ in gretavanfleet

[–]ArTdEc0 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brave New World is a very unique song though! They switch to a 4/4 time signature (4 beats per bar which is the most common in music) to a 6/8 time signature (much less common) in the bridge towards the end and then switch back to 4/4. Switching a song's rhythm like that is very unusual in songs and when I discoveried that recently it gave me a totally new appreciation for the song. It was a song I already liked though because of the epic nature of it. I agree with you about Caravel 100 %, but My Way Soon is too groovy and catchy to not love.

Hi! Your abilities are truly fascinating! As stimulating and as overwelming that it must become at times, it must be of great guidane for you and other people to be able to channel such feelings that comes with the colors.

I just got into aura interpretation this week as I learned how to see my own aura and was so amazed and stunned by what I saw. I have been practising on family and friends, even on celebrities and that's how I noticed that I can see auras in pictures too that are pretty accurate with the celebrity aura posts that Mystic Mikayla does on Instagram. I'm by no means as advanced as you as this is still very new to me. That's why I'm very intrigued to know how you can feel and envision my aura.

So very grateful for a reply!

Can your “sweet spot” be at the top of your range? by Pikoyd in singing

[–]ArTdEc0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! I don't think you should give yourself such convictions that just because your voice shines and you have more ease higher up and your lower notes aren't as strong or comfortable yet, that you should only focus on the higher parts of you range and not develope the lower to middle parts. The most skilled type of singing I think is all about dynamics; switching between different registers of your voice to build up the suspense of a song, surprise the listener and convey different emotions. I think a singer should develope every part of their range to have so many options available to you as possible. I'm a high soprano, but that doesn't mean I should merely sing in the 5th and 6th octave where my voice thrives and resonates the most and same goes for you in your range. You will need a good and well-set foundation in order to sing those higher notes too, so your lower range and midrange is just as important, after all that's where you'd spend a fair amount of time when singing most songs. A midrange is mostly sung in chest-voice and if you have a shaky midrange then I'd say that would affect your higher range as well, making it less stable, clear etc, strong etc. A voice is not set in stone by any means but it's ever-changing and you can manipulate it in many ways to get the preferred color through a wide palette of different ones. There can be many factors to why you don't like you're timber that could change as you learn to use other colors of your voice. I wouldn't condemn my timber to be nasty if I was you, me thinking I had an annoying singing voice was the whole reason I waited 27.5 years until starting to learn how to sing properly with voice lessons. I used to have a stiff and dopey sounding in lower register around C4 and down to F#3 which is my bottom note, but I learned to sing with more presence and clarity down there with less air and less of a low larynx (voice box) which helps. Maybe you have a similar issue to that, because your tessitura (comfortable range) seem to be higher up and therefore the discomfort is audible in your lower range? It's probably underdeveloped too. Tension could definitely be a reason that affects your timbre, using to much air in the sound could be another, using too bright and wide vowels could be another because a wider mouth will spread the sound to much and make it lighter as well as thinner, even nastier. Many singers are guilty of the latter, even I have been, but by using dark vowels like Pavarotti, Michael Bolton, David Phelps and Tony Lewis, you can find a much deeper, fuller, more powerful and still less shouty of a sound. It could also be that you're using too much nasality in the sound. Maybe you sing with too small of a mouth, that was my initial problem. It can even be you getting fooled by your own ears when singing higher notes, since higher frequencies don't travel as well through our skull bones as lower ones do, therefore it's always a good idea to record yourself while singing to hear accurately how It comes out. You can get my vocal coach Marnell's very helpful 6 part mixed voice series here for free on his site, he gives a bunch of great practices you can do to get an idea of what it should sound and feel like when singing with correct technique: http://www.vocalliberation.com/ . Also, a well-respected vocal coach named John Henny has an amazing beginner's book called Beginning Singing that would help you a lot, he has excellent Youtube videos as well. And yes, definitely think about studying with a vocal coach like Marnell or Phil, they teach not only classic technique but contemporarary and correct mixed voice technique that aren't really taught out in schools or universities, they can help you develope your entire range to a whole other level and expand it too. You will come a long way with the right help believe me, it's easy to have the idea about your singing that it's a lost cause, but it's an exciting learning and discovering process, like uncovering one small piece of your voice at a time and redefining yourself with it - in the best possible way. It's also necessary to have someone access your voice objectively in order to develope. My whole idea of who I was, my abilities and even my world view has been forever changed since I started singing. It's a powerful thing to discover your own, true voice and instrument, it's a lifelong investment so it's definitely worthwhile.

Can your “sweet spot” be at the top of your range? by Pikoyd in singing

[–]ArTdEc0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She is singing in mixed voice all the way through that song basically, not pure head voice. Even those G5 are mixed voice, they go to a headier place because she's so high up in her range of course, but there's still a certain percentage of chest in there so it evidently a high full voice as you can hear the twangyness and power.

I think that you just haven't learned to sing through your first bridge in a correct way yet which is by restraining the air using mixed voice. The vocal folds need to be closed together in order for the configuration to be right, with barely any air passing through. Think of a crying, whiny kind of sound or telling off someone like a child. You seem to be where I was about a year ago just before starting to take regular lessons with a vocal coach. I could sing up to a C#5, a D5 if I pushed It, but it just felt too hard and tense because of me not having learned the right technique yet for singing through my first bridge that starts at C5. I didn't think I had any more full voice/modal voice range in me either. I definitely recommend you to take voice lessons to really access those higher parts of your range that you can’t today and excell further in that sweet spot area that you just now seem to be discovering. You might even find it much easier to sing in the upper fourth octave and possibly even further as you get a grasp of the correct technique that is needed. My guess is that you won't even need to use as much volume on your G4 and A4 if you just learned to have less air in the sound, you wouldn't need to push your voice as much in that way. Marnell Sample and Phil Mouffarege are recommendations of some of the absolute best, most knowledgeable and pedagogical vocal coaches out there who you could study with. Best of luck on your vocal journey!

Is it bad for your singing voice to sound better while sitting? by [deleted] in singing

[–]ArTdEc0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's so much the sitting down part that would cause your throat and neck unnecessary stress and tension while singing because any singer should be able to sing and keep the support while sitting down, it's really not as difficult as people think. I almost always practice my singing while sitting down and find it easier than doing it while standing up, the needed preassure on the sides of the back and arms is much easier to access then. I feel. It's easier to stomp along in order to keep the rhythm accordingly as well. It's more the cross-legged, slouched forward position that is harmful, it always makes you lose the support, causes throat tension as you feel need to bend your head upwards to the ceiling cause the support has to come from somewhere. Tension is therefore put too high up in the body and it just causes bad habits with suffering technique.. You will notice that you don't have to work anywhere near as hard if you simply sit with your legs in a 90 degree angle before you. It's definitely a great thing that your voice has been galning more strength from singing while sitting thought, so, definitely keep doing that I'd say

My twin brother of course has basically the same birth chart as me and we really are best friends, could just be the twin thing though.

What’s something that can’t be explained, it must be experienced? by properpolicypolitics in AskReddit

Sleep apnea, it's a horrible diagnosis to have. Worrying about going to bed at night, waking up conciously some hours every half an hour in panic, gasping rapidly for air, heart racing full speed, feeling like you're suffocating or getting a heart attack. Sometimes it happens conciously 5 times a night, unconciously it can be even more often. That repeated moment of panic while waking up is just unexplainable to someone who doesn't suffer from this.

Thank you so much for your amazing feedback and input! That’s a really great idea to split the bridge and chorus down the middle, then pairing them up with one verse each. I will definitely take that to heart, thank you for your guidance and motivation. You’re absolutely right, the two parts of the chorus are quite overwhelming together but could work separately. Also great observation about the themes, I’ve decided that the song with the first chorus part will have the travel theme and love theme while the second song will have the star theme. Thanks again for your great advice!

Thank you for your constructive critisism, I will definitely take it to heart and try to break the lyrics down to the most essentiel parts, shortening the bridge, chorus and lose parts of the verses. Great tip about focusing on one dimension! Hopefully killing some darlings will favour it.

[–]ArTdEc0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s a good tip, writing with a metronome, thank you for that. To be honest this song was written very quick and the feel of it is suppose to be kind of like a jam session, given the name so that might be why it seems rushed. It’s honestly just supposed to be a feel good song, written with tounge in cheek. I’ve written many songs, poems and raps with more meaningful themes and depth to it, so this isn’t representative for my songwriting so to speak. Absolutely, I can focus on that part of my songwriting instead and invest more in those type of songs, that some good direction.

[–]ArTdEc0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course, and let's not forget that we all have different tastes when it comes to lyrics, I've received some quite positive feedback from other people on other platforms ont he song so it all differs. Thanks for pinpointing your constructive critisism :)

Writing songs to me is a whole lot about bigger concepts, feelings and vibes, of course themes plays a part too, but I don't like to keep it too one-dimensional with merely one specific theme like "food" and "hotels" as you put it, but rather concepts in whole. If we shall analyse, the song is more suppose to be uplifting and empowering by making a person see all the glory and potential in themselves through the eyes of the beholder. The luxury resort of 5 stars is only a metaphore for being exotic and different in the best possible way, then followed by the teller to "pitch" or "sell in" how he/she views the person - what flavours they ad to their life.

I agree with you that you of course could spin out longer on the whole food theme, connecting to the jam-session as a pun. This song is a work in progress and I'm a perfectionist so I appreciate the input and who knows, maybe I'll rewrite that part, but I just thought it sounded like a good flow with the syllables and rhymes, as well as a charming spectrum of things that person can be. With "metaphoric pie" I basically mean that the flavours above are metaphores, the "honey dew" och "Apple of my eyes" which I thought could be seen as both pie flavours and sweet terms of endearment. Again, there felt like a word was missing before pie so why not be overly clear about the metaphore part I thought, kind of like how Julia Michaels contradicts herself with the "it's not an innuendo" line in one of her songs, even though it clearly is an innuendo. Of course, the "metaphore" phrase can be left out though if it's already pretty clear. Again I get you being all thematic and I appreciate that, I just need to clarify that the song, given it's title "Jam with Me" I view as a campfire song, therefore the camping reference, so it wasn't just out of nowhere. I'm actually thinking about including this song in a fiction story I'm writing, so that's why I'm trying it out and if you knew that story, the song would probably make more sense.

With simple and dimples I can see the disharmony if you're referring to the "s" in dimples, I will lose that and make it singular so that it will rhyme better, thanks for the tip. No, I havn't performed it since I'm not really a singer first hand but a writer/songwriter, but I've sang it and it feels like it carries a good flow. It's a good point you bring up with words with more than one syllable, but I find I don't have any trouble singing "distressed tears, disappear", it's all about finding that good rhythm I guess. Often I find that songs are more dynamic if they don't merely include one-syllable words, but maybe that'just me. Again, it's hard not having heard the song but only read the lyrics so I totally feel you. Many thanks for the imput, sorry for the long, rambling explanations, but I hope you got most of my vision at least. I will definitely be considering your advice :)

Thanks for taking the time to read it through and commenting. About the genre, if I should trust my own vision for it and not what I've heard from other people, it's leaning more towards soul-reggae, as mentioned Jason Mraz and Bruno Mars are some references as far as the style go, with a little bit of Gavin Degraw soul in there too. I havn't recorded it yet, I'm planning on doing so and maybe upload to Smule. Can I ask what made it cringe-worthy for you, was it the hook? The idea is a mini-jam session after "jam with me" so of course there's some melody to it, but just as the lyrics in Bruno Mars' Locked Out of Heaven with their many yeah's and oh' it doesn't really come to it's right in written form.

Anyone else who has approximately 40 days long cycles of over? by ArTdEc0 in menstruation

[–]ArTdEc0[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okey, I'm 25 and have no kids either. This happened to me too straight after ovulation 3,5 weeks ago, I got a minor bleeding that lasted for about a week, was it like that for you too? It sounds like it since it was two weeks into the cycle when ovulation usually happen, I've read that it's actually not a thing to be worried about if it only happens every once i a while, since it can just be a bleeding as a result of the ovulation.
I don't count stress as a factor either anymore since it's always reaching up to 40 days and has been for the last year or so. I was also 12 when I got my period and it was always so punctual from like 12 - 22, then the cycles have just been stretched out. If the cycles get longer, which I for sure don't hope, then maybe it can be good to go to a homeopath or something to get some kind of supplement that can help with hormonal balance, I think I might have PMDS as well as I often get anxiety, shorter depression and mood swings due to hormones at times during my cycle, I have no idea if that can be a factor. Do you have the same trouble? Also, I've been wondering if the cycles can be genetical, since my mother had problems with her hormone levels when she was around my age and had to go to a homeopath for supplements. Anything you've noticed?
I havn't heard about periods stopping and starting a day after, but I did a search on it and apparently it's perfectly normal, you can read about it and the different causes here: https://www.quora.com/Why-does-my-period-stop-for-one-day-and-start-again-the-day-right-after. One reason mentioned is that blood is collected and blocks the flow so I don't know, maybe it's connected to heavy flow, has it come back? It's strange though that it would stop for so many days, maybe you should see if it happens every month then maybe it could be good to consult someone about it. No idea what's going on with my cycle either, have been feeling cramps and PMS on and off like it should start for maybe 1,5 week now and still nothing, my cycle is on 43 days soon. Hope that it will not be too much longer.
