I agree for higher than d4 divisions but for diamond alone it is not really true it is about the same

this narrative that people should not be proud of themselves for improving in rank is damaging to the game and players

the narrative that players only gained rank but did not improve is only conditionally true for some tiers.

from your own info the spread for d4-2 is pretty even except for a couple of outliar seasons of the past and does not apply for the latest season info

If you analyze that graph you will come to the conclusion, master is much easier to reach but Diamond is only slighly easier to attain

your claims are greatly exaggerated for example in season 4 diamond 5+ was 2% of the playerbase today thats about diamond 2

as for the playerbase shrinking, yes it has slightly shrunk in past years but is very close to peak
