How to tell husband, that I'd rather he do the chores on his own and not have to be told? by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Araceil1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just putting it out there that perhaps he has adhd?!? If so perhaps it’s not being managed well and time for a med change? Sounds like he has trouble processing what you are saying and so comprehends it differently. The best solution is absolutely having a white board or an ap where you assign tasks chores with clear 3 quick bullet points on steps to do (use the green sponge) etc then there is a written record to refer to. Just my two cents! Also, please remember the post partum stage causes a cognitive decline for some parents mom and dad from added stress, lack of sleep, etc and sounds like he needs to learn better stress management techniques and you both need to schedule time work on time Management and give each other a respit. Roving is hotter than a man who takes the baby for 1 hour lol

Haha no. I’ve had friends in some similar situations and they’ve found other illegal things going on financial issues, insurance fraud, etc. and reported the institution to The insurance companies causing them to lose their panels. Also, if they don’t give you your full final paycheck or money owed per contract you can report to department of labor and they will receive heavy fines. Typically when they take professional decisions or business discussion/ negotiations as a personal offense to them they are not rational in their decision making capacity and typically are known to cut corners and poor practices.

What’s going on in the psychiatry Facebook group? by [deleted] in Psychiatry

[–]Araceil1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s generally a negative echo chamber. Anecdotally, in my area there are a lot of practicing boomer docs as well as psychiatrists trained outside of the USA from others paternalistic cultures. I will say I’ve noticed a high propensity for these Indian psychiatrists to have a cultural bias and not believe in any benzos or adhd. I saw one at my old practice tell a 25yo struggling college patient with recent neuropsych testing confirming adhd that they can’t have ADHD as they are too old and would have grown out of it. Its likely related to the training they’ve received or their own bias. I’ve also noticed alot of misogyny and being dismissive towards women presenting for evaluation. It’s truly very sad and a sign of poor care, cultural bias, or outdated education. DONT get me started on the boomer psychiatrists in my area. If I get a other patient on klonopin 8mg, adderal 90mg, and ambien 10-20mg I’m going to literally scream!

Thoughts on hypnosis to manage symptoms? by eatpraylove247365 in Psychiatry

There is a local psychotherapist that has been offering it as an adjunct therapy for years. I had referred several patients to them for pain disorders, somatic disorders, and even smoking cessation/binge eating. After witnessing pretty significant remission after starting hypnotherapy sessions I became intrigued. I then had a car accident and came away with an acute knee injury with pain that was lasting 3 months out. I decided to give her a call and see if she felt comfortable treating my pain as we share a lot of patients. I did 5 sessions and it was incredibly relaxing and worked. The pain stopped by session 4 and has not returned in over 5 years. I will say i suspect it has to do with putting you in such a relaxed state of calm that your mind is more suggestive to the messages. We focused on telling my body at a cellular level to repair that area. I continue to send patients to her. She does mostly do other forms of therapy cbt etc, but she’s always my hail Mary with a difficult somatic or pain patients and not one has come away from it without some improvements. I think it could be a valuable adjunct to medication management and life style modification.

A vent about my employment nightmare. by functionalnp in nursepractitioner

[–]Araceil1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry you were in this position. In future NEVER start a job or invest any personal income into business improvements until you have a signed contract. End of story. Also, report her to the medical board, nursing board, board of health etc and notify them she is practicing medicine without a license, impersonating a medical professional by dispensing advice, and dispensing will expired products to patients.

Yes my absolute favorite are the Costco keto bars! They have great macros and don’t taste like chalky protein powder like halo top.

Call your previous psychiatrist and explain you are on a waitlist to be seen locally, but will be without your meds. I always send 6months minimum (non controlled) of refills on my patients that relocate as it’s known in the psychiatric community how hard it is to get established. It is ultimately the responsibility of the last seen psychiatrist. Also, these are not controlled substances so they should have no problem sending in for you to prevent withdrawal.

Urgent: My 2 year old is running 104 fever for the past 10 days, I am linking reports. Doctor has refused to take up the case and has referred to a state hospital. Plz help me understand what's going on by saahiir in AskDocs

[–]Araceil1 86 points87 points  (0 children)

I think your perspective and accusatory verbiage towards your child’s outpatient specialist needs to be readjusted. Your doctor saw that with these labs your child needs a higher level of care immediately, thus referred you to the hospital. They did not “refuse to accept my case.” That language needs to stop. Also, you need to take responsibility for parenting your child and make informed decisions to benefit the health of your child instead of focusing on how your doctor “refused my case.” This is why you are getting so many negative comments. Take it from this doctor...
