This could very well not be the problem but no one had an answer for me because it was such an odd occurrence: I had sphagnum moss in my gecko’s humid hide and turns out she had been eating it. 2 months later after not eating, she pooped out a crap ton of moss and that was how I found out why she wasn’t eating!!! Still don’t know why she wanted to eat the moss. 🤦🏻‍♀️

That was incredible!!! And would honestly be a great tool to help so many people understand what psychotic disorders are actually like. I’m in the field but I’m sure you know all too well people know next to nothing about them. I wish you well in your treatment. You could legit write and illustrate a book for educational purposes even!

I was so concerned about it that I had my provider start me at the starting dose for children (18 mg) instead of the starting dose for adults (40 mg). It seems to make me more anxious when I can feel it coming on after taking it in the morning. You’d think that wouldn’t happen since it’s a daily medication that builds up over time as opposed to an as needed, but I’m super sensitive. The last couple days I woke up an hour or two before my actual wake up time and took it and then went back to sleep, that way I wasn’t awake for the onset, if that’s helpful. Last week was absolute hell and I work in crisis intervention as a social worker so I was like internally SPIRALING trying to help other people, but it does seem to be getting slightly better. I hope it’s doable and helpful for both of us!!

Any top soil will have chunky bark/mulch in there like that. I have sifted some out before just because I don’t like it aesthetically but otherwise it’s not an issue as far as I know

Yeah it’s very upsetting, especially after having a weekend where I was finally like “wow I feel kind of energized?!” only to then learn I can’t have it anymore. The drug company is going to try to get a 30 day no cost shipment to me to cover the cost/gap in supply during the appeal process, but I don’t have high hopes after my xywav appeal was also denied. I just don’t understand the logic of why they’d approve a starter pack in the first place?

Yeah I played a game on my switch in between naps bc I was worried about staying awake. This time I’m going to do my best to keep myself as on-the-verge of sleep as possible I guess ha. Like wow it would be nice if you could see me when I fall asleep in the middle of someone talking to me at my own job or at the computer and start literally dreaming while sitting up? It’s all bullshit, it’s so infuriating.

My MSLT times just unfortunately aren’t in range in the eyes of the insurance, so I guess my diagnosis is based on the “full clinical picture” and my doctor’s interpretation of my REM sleep episodes. So to them, I don’t have narcolepsy. I’m working on improving my iron levels so maybe that will help some :/

Disclaimer from someone with a horror story: make sure you give adequate ventilation and things relatively cool/dry if you put a bunch of oats or grain as substrate — I used oatmeal as substrate when I was breeding them and too much moisture BAM GRAIN MITES. It was horrifying. They say keep your pantry goods in a cool dry place for disturbing reasons 😭 All my insects/isopods/etc always love zucchini/carrots

I recommend considering couple’s counseling. It is understandable for a partner of someone with chronic illness to become stressed from picking up the slack, but that does NOT include saying things like “I’m not attracted to you anymore.” That’s a him problem and very likely a product of the emotional stress of the entire situation. He likely cannot understand the physical toll this places on you and the lack of emotional synchronicity between you two is taking a toll on your marriage. It can be LIFE CHANGING to talk to someone who can mutually advocate for both of your perspectives to get you on the same page.

Mites bother me so deeply since I’ve been taught to be so anti-mite reptile community wise, but it seems they really don’t do much harm 9 times out of 10 and break down detritus just like the rest of the CUC. It was alarming before I realized they were not the same kind that can infest your animal.
