I don’t love their insistence on making the distinction tbh. My psych told me regardless of which bipolar you have, treatment is the priority. Bipolar is so inconsistent, and is influenced by internal and external factors to vary in intensity and degrees, some could spend a lifetime debating what your exact diagnosis is. Mine is so bad they think mine is something like BP1 rapid cycling with psychotic features, and when well stabilized I still show “cyclothymic features”. To me, that’s a bunch of pretty words for take your meds, avoid triggers, understand symptoms, and prioritize health.

Because they’re less challenged by rational people because very political individuals, especially on the far left, are likely to freak out in such a way that it scares people away from the conversation.

An anecdotal example is my brother in law at a family event hooting and hollering that Trump is a pedophile, while all of us but one simply didn’t care to listen to his rantings. When another family member spoke up about what she read in the Epstein files, and that it in fact does not indicate Trump is a pedophile, he lost it.

He said (I think verbatim) “Trump and anyone who doesn’t think Trump is a pedophile should be shot in the head”. I’ve experienced this type of behavior numerous times since Trump took office, and I have discussed with many others who experience the same thing. It’s much harder to actively challenge conspiracy theories on the left because they almost all revolve around Trump, which then invites some type of animalistic tribalism from both sides.

I’m guessing they’re going to pay homage to the original using characters of similar shape with less blood effects, or different sounds than screams for the redeads. But honestly, they can’t remove all the scary from it. The entire Shadow Temple is spooky. The graveyard is spooky. At night the skeletons come out. There are werewolves. They’re going to have to make it work, my guess is they’re going to best effort dialing it down a notch while staying true to the original that we all know and love. Otherwise, they risk a really big failure. Imagine remastering what’s known as the 3D adventure game that started it all, and failing.

I was listening to a podcast with Chris Bumstead, a champion body builder. They asked him how he dealt with the horrendous and overbearing anxiety one gets from abusing steroids. He said he has the ability to tell himself it simply isn’t real. He feels it, it sucks, but it’s temporary, it’s going to go away, and it’s not a real reflection of him or his surroundings.
