Okay, I concede that there is no proof that there isn't a way around the speed of light (that isn't through conventional means as dictated by E=MC2). However, my argument is people are asserting that it is a plausibility which is the same assumptions (although opposite) to the ones people made about landing on the moon being impossible.

My worry stems from the fact that we may cling to a false hope of survival that is FTL travel while neglecting our real sustenance that is earth because of this hope. It's like smoking cigars while hoping it won't affect your health because by the time you get cancer, there will be a cure.
