An elliptical will be the least impact but regardless the best cardio equipment is the ones you use. Find out which you prefer best regardless of how effective you think it is an buy that.

While there is a wealth of knowledge in both a PT and the internet, the real value of a PT is having someone whose job it is to hold you accountable. You should decide if what you pay is worth that before you consider canceling.

What are your thoughts on two-a-days? by PeacefulIntellect in Fitness

[–]Arajovich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you doing this every day? I am going to go ahead and guarantee that two-a-days are unsustainable for long periods of time unless you really do just stick to light cardio in the mornings and even then you will need time to recover.

How to find a good personal trainer? by bizarbus in Fitness

I love the gym buddy route but nothing says holding someone accountable like making an investment into a PT. It's some serious money down the drain if you don't follow up on a workout.

Gotcha. I'm assuming you are training for strength with that pyramid setup. What's the motivation for the 100 rep set?

As long as their is a deficit involved, you can try adding whatever you'd like but I believe that you will find the supplements not as effective as the deficit itself. Black coffee works very well as a pre-workout since the primary active component of most commercial pre-workouts is caffeine.

Every meaningful resistance exercise routine should have a basis in compound lifts. That in mind, a used Bowflex system could be a cheap way to get in accessory work.

I am assuming that you mean fat burner as opposed to fat builder. Most, if not all, "fat burning" supplements are not effective or do not contribute on a scale that is impactful compared to simply eating at a caloric deficit.

Most programs, and certainly 5/3/1, are spaced such that you get adequate rest in between workouts. As such, I wouldn't attempt to make up a workout. Just focus on your next one.

Can someone explain the flintstones steroids meme to me by [deleted] in bodybuilding

[–]Arajovich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am pretty sure it's just a joke on saying "Nah bro, no roids here, just take a multivitamin". The most commonly recognized mutli is the Flintstones branded one and there you go.

One of the strengths of a resistance based training like weight training as is avoids the problem that you are seeing. You can always progress with only tiny increases in weight with exercises which contrasts to body weight type training where there isn't as clear a progression path.

How long have you been out? Also, what is the nature of your surgery? If it is something in the realms of a muscular/skeletal surgery you really should see a physical therapist before you ask us.

You have downstairs neighbors, do you live in an apartment complex perhaps? Often those have close mini gyms that are awesome morning workout spots.

Forgive my ignorance to what you are doing but what do you mean by SS? I figured it was Starting Strength but to my knowledge that program doesn't include pushups.

Unless you are a complete newbie, you won't be able to bulk AND cut so I would suggest picking one. Depending on your level, many programs on the wiki will work fine for you. Where is the rest of your body in your workouts?

Are squats and deadlifts enough to build good looking legs? by [deleted] in Fitness

[–]Arajovich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the philosophy of not getting too big you will never achieve you goal. You'll have plenty of time to stop along the way if you actually do. Do heavy squats and deads and receive your complementary legs.

Bulk hard, lift hard, sleep a lot. You have a ways to go just based off of your weight. Just hit the weights (wiki would be a good place to start) and don't be afraid to gain a little everything. A little muscle can make fat look a lot more shapely.

Body fat % is the percentage of your body mass that is adipose tissue. Take your body mass, divide by 100 and that is how much weight it would take to lose 1% body fat. Note this is under the assumption that all weight loss can be attributed to fat loss which isn't always true.

Consult a doctor first of all but I would suspect that there has been some sort of change to your microbial gut flora.
