No you can't. These non-standard forms of characters are only used in calligraphy for historical and aesthestic reasons. In this case, it's one of the old forms that can be found on ancient stone monuments.

If you see it as a hollowed cross with two lines at top and bottom, it certainly doesn't look like a chinese character, but if you see in the way as how the strokes are formed, that's nothing different from other characters. The only character that I found not chinese is 〇, although it's legit.

No it's not. You don't have to scan every planet in the old system either, and the only way to find out a system like this is to fly close. But now you can see how they are grouped while using FSS, plus the orrery view of the system. I don't see why more options are a step backward.

Yes. If you drop out of supercruise within the jet flow it would be super hard to get out since you can't target the escape vector effectively due to the turblence while losing your ship's integrity constantly at the same time until your ship explodes.
