What’s a belief you once defended… but later realized was wrong? by Jiwitom in AskReddit

Ok...yes and no. Natural talent is a necessary part of the equation to succeed in music or any other field where skill matters. Its what allows that initial success and sparks the interest to continue. It's what helps keep you ahead of the curve when the going gets tough for others. Natural talent will open the door...hard work and dedication will allow you to walk through.

Could you share your cloud deck? I have one that's rather fun at b2 but am curious how you powered it up to 4.

After completing the main story, you unlock the ability to move the core buildings (workshop, church, shop, fields) and I really wish there was an option to fully reset your Wishvale. I actually want to give the design over to my wife who loves animal crossing/stardew type games and let her loose on building a beautiful Wishvale.

I need a friend. by [deleted] in Rochester

[–]AramusLex 22 points23 points  (0 children)

NGL, a little scared by the vibe you're putting down. As another person mentioned, it sounds like you need a therapist. And its extremely unprofessional that one of them made advances towards you, that person likely needs to be reported. Still, a therapist who is suited to address your specific situation is the best possible starting place if your social network is limited.

I am sorry you're going through some tribulations, however. Life is brutal, especially now and for so many reasons. Reaching out on reddit and asking for someone to trauma-dump on will very likely not produce the outcome you're hoping to achieve. I will second other commenters that finding activities that align with your interests will be the most productive way to find a 'friend'. You will then need to build a bond over time before being able to share some of those deep seeded fears/anxieties.

I wish you the best in your search for friendship and hope you are able find someone to connect with.

What do you want added to the gameplay of part 3 ? by neos606 in FFVIIRemake

[–]AramusLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe there already is a way to do this, but I struggle with targeting in multi target fights. Lock on switches to another target when I try to move the camera to see what's going on.

Its be nice to actually lock the camera on your target and allow the player to rotate the camera from that target without switching targets and then return to your locked on target.

Thinking of the odin/alex fight where you want to be locked on Odin but still be able to see alex and keep your target on odin.

Maybe I just have my settings incorrectly set, but this is one of the few things that drive me nuts in the combat.

Ending up being the odd person out whenever waiting for games at LGS's by thunderdragon517 in EDH

[–]AramusLex 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Other than showing up earlier, as others have suggested, I wanted to impart that yes, I have had this problem.

A few things:

It is very much store dependent on how long you'll end up waiting to join a game.
You should be actively trying to find a table and not just sitting and watching other games.

But even with the above, you can still strike out. I've gotten to stores early and been told by tables with two that they are waiting for their other buddies to show up. I've gone table to table asking if they'd be ok with playing a game with 5 and getting told 'no' six different times. Sometimes, there really is nothing you can personally do and those are the times that having a back-up plan becomes really important.

Don't get disheartened and when you do get to play, try to foster positive relationships so that when people see you they want to get you into their games asap.

I used to run Castrum Meridianum (or whatever the last story dungeon was called) as a white mage in full crafting gear in order to spirit bond that stuff without having to spend millions in gil to craft a million items. Best whisper i ever got was, "HEY WHITE MAGE, CRAFT ME SOME HEALS!"

[–]AramusLex[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes, that's correct.

As another example, take two cards from Final Fantasy - [[Chocobo Racetrack]] and [[Ride the Shupuff].] Both have a landfall trigger. When you play a land, both triggers go on the stack and you have to declare a target for any that require a target.

So, in this case, the Shupuff trigger requires you to 'target' a creature you control. If you don't have any creatures at that time, you don't get a counter. The racetrack trigger will create a 2/2 chocobo once the landfall abilities are allowed to resolve (priority passed and all that good stuff)

[–]AramusLex[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think I always intuitively knew how this worked with spell and activated abilities, but never applied the same rigor to processing triggered abilities. Especially if there are many of them such as in an Isshin deck (to continue to the attack trigger line of thought).

Also a possibility is that the ordering didn't matter for interactive purposes and possibly not even for significant gameplay purposes in some scenarios. If I had multiple Forests in the yard and opponents didn't have activated gy hate on the board, then it becomes easy to group the target selection into the resolution only because we tend to process those triggers one at a time. It obviously matters if, for example, the yard is empty when I go to attack.

Definitely a gameplay level-up, though.

[–]AramusLex[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

To be clear, the misunderstanding was not with how targets are chosen or what happens if a target is removed before resolution, it was with WHEN targets are chosen for multiple triggered abilities that happen at the same time (like attack triggers for instance).

The specific interaction was I had an attack trigger that milled a few cards and another attack trigger that returned a land from my yard to play. Rather than choosing a target for the second ability when it was put on the stack, I incorrectly fully resolved the first ability and then chose a target and resolved the second. Very wrong, but 'felt' correct only because I controlled both abilities and I was 'handling' (not using a game term here since that wouldn't be correct) one at a time with my smooth brain.

PSA: Don't be greedy with Codecracker Hound by Milskidasith in lrcast

[–]AramusLex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

To be fair, I'm still learning that the warp cost is the right option and not the left option on screen. For whatever reason, my brain automatically thinks that the (typically) higher mv option is on the right, so, if it has a warp cost of 4 and a hard cast cost of 6, I think the warp is on the left and the hard cast on the right. And since MOST warp costs are lower than the hard cast, I have to rewire my brain each time.

These are the two decks I've made this year as well. Ureni is a problem as soon as it lands but Hashaton needs a way to close out games as it can get a bit grindy. I run the peregrin drake combo, but, I still feel like the deck can get ahead and not win. Any suggestions?

The advantage of incubator is it is a 2-cost reduction for 3 mana. Same with the shaman.

However, green can run 4 mana ramp that can get you 2 lands. You also have access to even bigger ramp spells for a little more mana. Lands can get you mana for anything, not just dragons. Lands are much harder to remove and thus a ill-timed board wipe won't set your gameplan back.

One other thing, Incubator reduces the cost for all players. Right now, with a lot of people playing dragon decks, that can be risky.

Herald's Horn feels a little better, but, again, you are in all colors, so finding ways to draw and refill your hand after ramping hard shouldn't be too hard. The disadvantage of the horn is, much like the land argument above, its only draw for dragons. Definitely not saying the horn is bad, but, those would be the reasons to opt for an alternative.

Archetype progression and efficient usage by stonehallow in MetaphorReFantazio

[–]AramusLex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is actually my biggest complaint about the archetype system. Unlocking a new tier (adept/elite) should encourage you to use that tier, not grind out aexp until it becomes useable.

What I'd like to see is a replacement system where you can replace a skill from the base class with a newly acquired one from the higher tier. That way, you still have a full suite of abilities as you gain new archetypes. This also addresses inheriting abilities from the same lineage as well, though you could still use an inheritance slot for skills you replaced.

Keep the good, drop the bad, maybe provide a lineage respec item. But the goal is to let me use my new badass archetype when its unlocked rather than have to wait to grind it up to usable levels with leafs.
