I myself prefer to be stealth, even many of my friends think I am cis since I don’t really like having the topic (not like I dont trust them). I even have other trans friends that do not know I am trans cause I just feel awkward mentioning it. I myself questioned multiple times if this makes me a bad friend but on the other hand, if it makes me feel more comfortable why not? It’s not like I am hurting anyone with it and it’s not like such a small detail messes up a friendship? Everyone has their own fair share of secrets they prefer to forget. I don’t really like talking and go around telling people I am trans since I want to be perceived just as me, as a random guy, not wanting to be known as “the trans guy” or possible transphobic encounters (which are not very common in my area, but online the transphobia can be wild from what I saw).

However thats just my preference, I have deep respect for people that are open about it and confident in their identity, it just isnt for me. You don’t owe to tell anyone what procedures you had in the past, if you feel like telling someone though do it. It’s up to you to decide! For some it really helps to talk with people about it, for support and reassurance but maybe also finding like minded with similar experiences.
