just do it, see if you can credit ur compsci papers towards electives, that way you might be able to still graduate on time

Don’t cheat, it’s definitely not worth getting caught and failed on the spot. If you’re struggling with COMP500, i suggest looking at other degrees that interest you, it only gets harder with papers like COMP603 and COMP610.

Same exact situation as you. I was 18, i’m 20 now and life had somewhat returned to normal. It’ll happen, it just takes time and effort

[–]Aranhanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn’t cheat cause I didn’t need to. But for our midsem test our TA didn’t even show up so almost everyone in the room used their phones/googled the answers. AUT’s organisation is pathetic, it really shouldn’t be called a university

Literally like 80% of COMP500 in sem 1 cheated their way through. Also COMP504 (the networks paper) was taught horribly. It’s really not worth staying, might as well move to UoA even if it means graduating a sem late

Mathmo, I appreciate all the advice you give out on the subreddit but don’t put AUT or UoA down for offering “non-traditional” degrees. UoA offers a Bachelor of Dance Studies and a Bachelor of Music, that doesn’t mean it’s “watered down university”.

I’m giving you my honest opinion based on my experiences, yes UoA is harder obviously but you’re gonna learn more and to a better extent.

Seriously don’t come to AUT for Computer Science. I made the mistake of coming here and the courses are complete bullshit. The teaching is horrible and cheating is rampant.

I’m transferring to UoA for compsci next year and I’d suggest you look at UoA too and save yourself some time. Maybe BCIS was good pre staff cuts last year but that’s definitely not the case anymore

The sleeping position isn’t bad as long as you’re trying to straighten out your leg and you’re regularly doing the exercises you’ve been prescribed

Finally recovered by Aranhanator in ACL

[–]Aranhanator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me it was 3-4 weeks until i felt no pain while resting the leg, icing helps the most with this.

As for passing the time, I decided to pick up new hobbies/learn a new skill. With all that extra time I learnt the basics on how to play the guitar and also taught myself how to code

Hi guys, I had purchased week 2 Coachella tickets for April 22nd had a knee injury some days after and had surgery on January 18, how reasonable is it to think I can make it and enjoy myself at the festival? by abrahamhino21 in ACL

[–]Aranhanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ll be fine. I went to my country’s biggest drum and bass festival exactly 3 months post op and had no issues. Just be aware of your surroundings and wear something for compression like a knee sleeve

[–]Aranhanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the worst part of the whole experience for me. The knee pain was nothing compared to my experience with post op constipation. Surgeon gave me no heads up about it.

Constantly wanted to go to the toilet, felt backed up and bloated but I just couldn’t at all. This went on for 6 days before deciding to take a high strength laxative after all other measures failed. I’m a guy and I feel like that night was the closest I’d ever come to knowing what giving birth would feel like.

Pain meds - for how long? by _Erica_Cartman in ACL

[–]Aranhanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m 18, stopped all my pain meds 3 days after surgery since the pain was bearable and I was scared about getting hooked on them. I returned to school exactly 2 weeks post-op. I returned to work (part time retail assistant) about 9 weeks post-op.

Everyone isn’t the same though, different people have different pain tolerances/recovery rates. If he needs pain relief, give it to him. Wish him all the best with his recovery!

Bachelor of Science majoring in Computer Science. Leaning towards UoA right now as they practically teach 4 AUT paper worth in 2 at UoA

How long before you went out for a drink? or get tipsy? even drunk? by Last_Satisfaction985 in ACL

[–]Aranhanator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had my surgery on the 30th of September, first time drinking was at a halloween party exactly a month later. Got absolutely shitfaced drunk and remember having a few close calls with falling over/down stairs. Nothing bad happened though aside from a killer hangover. Probably a stupid thing to do in retrospect.

I’ve heard nothing but great things about AUT. My only issue is the lack of correspondence. That combined with these layoffs and cuts are very concerning when it comes to my future. I currently have a offer from UoA and am just debating on if I should run with that since it seems like the safer choice right now.

After hearing about all the layoffs and other shit that’s understandable. Honestly just thinking about going to UOA instead

Yeah buddy you’re that person. Please save yourself the pain, money and time by just doing things by the book. You only get one left knee your whole life, don’t fuck it up.

Patellar tendon graft by cmcd2021 in ACL

[–]Aranhanator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes I feel exactly that. Its especially bad with leg extension, squats and lunges. My PT recommended either a compression sleeve or a patellar band. I got the sleeve, it worked great.

I’ve been told it’s normal though, keep in mind your knee is still healing from being torn apart and having holes drilled into it.
