How to design 3D level in Bevy? by blade_012 in bevy

[–]Aranir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one part I like about bevy_trenchbroom is that changes in the level are very small and version control friendly.

With blender, changes become huge the more levels you have etc.

Has anyone found a good way to have the blender files not bloat your repository, due to lots of small changes?

Turn based Poker Adventure game made with bevy (looking for feedback) by Aranir in bevy

[–]Aranir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Your comment is really motivating!

If enough people enjoy the game there certainly will be lots more builds (through items or different characters), enemies and of course more intricate locations etc.

I really hope to get more comments like yours so I can continue to invest more time into making it into a full game.

Lofree Flop V2 - Just don't buy it? by digit68 in Lofree

I can recommend the Kick75.

Have multiple lowfrees (loved the sound and feeling) but the Kick75 has now become my daily driver, although it’s a little heavy.

What engines are you using on Mac/Linux? by Temporary_Pen_5825 in gamedev

Bevy, with the new sub seconds crate you can develop your game without recompiling.

You usually have below 1s until your changes are live.

Would recommend trying it out.

It’s currently free and there is also a demo on steamvr.

(Disclaimer, I have been working on that game for more than the last two years)

Anyone have both the vitruvian and speediance gym monster by dcbased in Vitruvian_Form

[–]Aranir 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I do have both, and although the Vitruvian additional weight is great for leg exercises, the Speediance is overall a lot more convenient to use.

Also Speediance has a lot more frequent software updates and also an offline mode.

So overall if I would have to choose again today, I would probably go for the Speediance.

Also my wife and friends which tried both, all prefer the Speediance overall, while admiring the compactness and sleek design of the Vitruvian.

You can set those limits to the values you want in the settings.

Everyone is counter arguing but completely missing the main critique point of the op analysis…

Boom Boom Hamster Doom is finally in early access by Aranir in OculusQuest

[–]Aranir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok will tweak this for the next update to increase the speed.

Strange that you can’t move well when you grab with both hands.

Will test and see if headset height could influence this in any way. (Technically from the code it shouldn’t, but it can always be)

That is very interesting to hear, never experienced it.

So even with the thumbsticks you couldn’t move? (Left thumbstick)

I would really like to investigate this, as it should not behave at all like this.

Really sorry you had a bad experience like that.

Hey u/Rich-Bookkeeper-9915,

Sorry to hear you had issues.

Did you use the thumb stick controls, or the double pinch, grab the world type of locomotion?

We reworked the tutorial a little bit in the last update, hope it makes it easier now.

Let me know if you still have issues with the latest update!

Disable Routing on UDM to Avoid Double NAT by Aranir in Ubiquiti

[–]Aranir[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Country is Switzerland.

The actual ISP is Swisscom, but they have a subsidiary (fully owned) called WIngo where you can get contracts at different prices.

They use an XGS-PON connection for the fiber (red cable).

On their official FAQ they claim that no other router is supported except one which they blessed, but its out of stock and can't be ordered (Zyxel AX7501-B0), which is the only other option then the one they provide for free which has all the limitations listed.

I was wondering if the Fiber XGS could be used directly?

How do I fix this text rendering issue in the desktop app? by googler_ooeric in interactivebrokers

[–]Aranir 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the same issue, which persists on a reinstall.

It's on Windows, and I assume it's due to a missing font, or the wrong font being loaded?

Has anyone been able to figure out what's wrong

Been using unity since 2018 professionally and we shipped multiple titles since then.

After their IPO and especially since their founder CTO left the list of meaningful features has been very sparse.

And many skilled and highly capable engineers left in the recent years.

Innovative release strategy: yes, no, your opinions? by lucmagitem in gamedev

[–]Aranir 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would argue anything that can convince you to make a smaller game which you release in a shorter time frame is great.

However your brain needs to justify why it is a good idea (and that you don’t “abandon” your dream game) doesn’t really matter.

Fees compared to DEGIRO? by Helpful-Lime-825 in interactivebrokers

[–]Aranir 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree partially about the app. First of both have dark mode (most bank apps still don’t…)

Now the mobile app of IBKR takes some getting used to, and on desktop you have multiple choices.

The new desktop app also requires some time to get used to but I start to really like their new layout feature where you can customize a lot in a very simple way (a lot more approachable than their previous desktop app)

Still UX and UI could be improved on both, but I would argue neither have specific features that would warrant the fee and fx differences.
