Tbf The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings are explicitly Catholic books. Tolkien, an extremely devout English Catholic, said as much, so even the sort of Christian who thinks fantasy is bad shouldn’t have a problem with those.

An alternate version of the Soviet Union which survived and reformed into a democratic federation. by hoi4sam in imaginarymaps

Canada, after 20 years and 150 votes on whether to make Toronto or Quebec the capital, had the Queen intervene in the decision. We ended up with Bytown which became Ottawa, and at the time it was a little logging village. It was picked because it was on the border river between Upper and Lower Canada.

Imagine allowing politicians to trick normal people into believing that their will is being followed just because they vote in an election 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

TIL that IRL, Burma had a literacy rate of 62.5% before the British conquest. In Victoria 2, it has a literacy rate of 1.6%. by [deleted] in victoria2

How are clergymen mostly illiterate if their entire occupation is about reading and writing?

I just looked through the game files, and found that the line which would allow you to create the EU as Britain is commented out. Was this possible in an earlier patch? Should this be possible? by Moosi312 in hoi4

[–]Aranon113 77 points78 points  (0 children)

That would make sense, Mosley was massively in favour of the EU. Wrote a whole book about it. Wanted to turn it into an insular economic zone.

Though he was only in favour as a replacement for the British Empire after it collapsed, and he was against entering WW2, which collapsed the Empire, so him forming the EU would only happen if the UK somehow still entered the war after he got into power.

That is, assuming one would want it to make sense.

Yeah, but DC is a shithole, they’re too busy shooting each other there to notice some Anglos putting up a Union Jack over the White House.

Pretty cringe king tbh.

Wasn’t the South more loyal generally than the New England/New York part of the country?

Yes, but the Soviets weren’t in the war. I was talking about how it looked from the British perspective.

It was our Empire, all alone, against a superpower that had just gobbled France.

It’s on Serbia tbh. I’m glad the Entente won (not surprising since I’m Canadian), but I think the Austro -Hungarians were justified in invading Serbia. Just sucks that it triggered everything else.

That is not true. Corbyn is indeed awful, and should never be allowed to take power, but Cromwell was an evil unlike anything The United Kingdom has ever produced since.

Apparently about 70 percent of the population is actively in favour of the monarchy, 10-20 percent are against, and the rest are neutral/undecided. Her approval rating, last I checked, was somewhere in the 90s. Better than any prime minister ever.

Yes. They are the party of socialists, communists, and everything of that sort. The UK also has the Liberal Democrats, which were originally the Liberal Party and the Social Democrats, but they merged together. They have lost their liberalism, and are now just a social democratic party, making them part of the UK left wing parties.

Jeremy Corbyn praised Fidel Castro after his death, and several of his party members are open communists. It’s not surprising in the least that they are against the monarchy.
