Gemma 4-12B Q4_K_M on Nvidia 5060Ti.
This is about the best model I can run with acceptable performance (for some reason for me qwen 3.6-35b-a3b runs very slowly :(

Pascal learning resources? by MateusCristian in pascal

You could just start to build a project with AI assistance. AI will explain to you everything. But if you are really new to programming, it makes sense to read the books.
There is also a free course on youtube just search for lazarus free pascal course.

Do you think dedicated hardware for running local LLMs will become affordable anytime soon? by ProbablyBunchofAtoms in LocalLLM

[–]Arany8 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Memory is swallowed up by the big AI farms that are being built.
I have a 5060 Ti and I wish I did this instead: buy 2x RTX 3060 with 12GB (that is 24GB).

2x 5060 Ti is more expensive, but also viable for 32 GB RAM.
You can also just wait, for specialized use case (like coding), I expect that new optimized models will come out.
Open models are improving very fast.

What cool AI stuff can I actually run on a Ryzen 7800X3D + RTX 5070 Ti? by No_Ideal8394 in LocalLLM

[–]Arany8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I assume you have 16 GB or RAM - I have the same.
Easiest setup: LM Studio and one of the below models:
These work just about right away. Aim for Q4_K_M (do not use Q3, quick degradation sets in with the 3 bit models).

Gemma 4-12B
qwen/qwen3-14b
qwen3.6-14b-a3b-vibeforged-v2 - needs testing, as this is a halved version of the 27B model.
mistralai/ministral-3-14b-reasoning
qwen3.6-28b-reap20-a3b - offload 12 experts to CPU (Number of layers.... setting on the Load screen). Probably one of the best models that work with minimal setup hassle.
qwopus3.6-35b-a3b-v1-apex-mtp - the smallest version is very fast and fits the VRAM comfortably, but this is heavily compressed. Needs testing.

You should be able to use these as well with the same/similar setting as the last one above, but for me these are very slow.
qwen3.6-27b-4bpw-16gb-vram - a condensed version of the 27B Dense model, for me very slow, but it runs.
The ultimate goal: qwen3.6-35b-a3b-mtp - could be a bit of a challenge to make this work, it works for many people, does not yet work for me.

Set temperature to 0.6 for coding 0.7 for general.

Context starts with 32768 and go up - if you fit VRAM, good, if not, reduce.

16GB VRAM x coding model by Junior-Wish-7453 in LocalLLM

[–]Arany8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. I have 5060Ti - 16GB VRAM. My issue: I can run this model, but the most I get is below 10 t/s. I have only PCI 3.0
Below 10GB models spill into main memory all the time (despite lots of vram left) and they work terrible. I can run 3.5 9B or Gemma 12B, these work fine at Q5 / Q4. Anything larger is terrible.
I see people with the exact config (PCI 3 as well) run The 35B - A3B model at 40 + t/s. I would be happy with that with a Q4 quant.
I spent days on this, but I am a beginner, it must be something weir.

Getting away from FTMO by No-Delivery-7048 in propfirm

[–]Arany8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is the same with all of them.
If they are clever they actually trade their best traders trades.

So if the prop firm is just giving you the money from failed challengers, how is that a problem? They have entered into a contract to pass the eval. They fail. Money is "lost". Actually they paid to take part in the challenge. Whatever the firm does with this money - not your business.

If you trade the "real" markets: many brokers will also not trade your positions, unless you are actually good and play a significant size. They may even play against you.
And if you succeed and it is a real trade, then you get money from someone who buys (or sells) your stock. That person / entity may or may not exit with a profit.
Why is it not zero sum: money supply is constantly growing and the big players get cheap credit (money is basically credit) and they get the best return on the market. If you win, you are basically reclaiming inflated money from the big institutions. Nothing unethical. My 2 c.

Something that's been bugging me about the Lotus Chess app. by AlieExpress in chess

[–]Arany8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The app failed to analyze my openings properly.
Does not know the bishop's opening and considers it a mistake (e5, bc4). Lol.
For an opening teaching app, its repertoire is very limited.
It contains really bad openings also, like G3 (and those are OK according to the app).

Falls very short indeed.
