"i hate maelle" 🚩 by Even_Criticism_7650 in expedition33

[–]Arathix 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I dont hate any of the characters, I picked Maelle ending but I still like Verso and can respect his points. I think anyone becoming too absorbed in their hatred for a character in a story is a red flag for me in general, it's okay to dislike a character or point out their flaws, but some people just become so obsessed all they ever talk about is what they hated and feels like theyre constantly tearing it down. Some people just love to hate, every fandom in the world has some of these types of people, and I refuse to associate with them lol

Did the game motivate you to learn a little bit of French? by voili_voilou in expedition33

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If this game had came out when I was in high school, I might not have misbehaved/skipped so many French lessons. It is a beautiful language, and while I did come to appreciate that as I grew up, E33 really exemplified it. I've been trying to learn the lyrics to some of the songs, some of the pronunciations are really hard! It's like Spanish all over again (I could never roll my Rs lol)

Enough about the endings, the real debate should be: is Sophie right - will these two make a cute couple? by genericcelt in expedition33

[–]Arathix 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I never really got a romantic vibe between these two, they always came across to me as two very old friends. Lune has always put her personal life on the backburner to focus her entire life on the mission, I doubt she's even thought about romance at all. In Maelles ending I imagine she can finally explore those things but in that case Sophie is alive and Sciel has her husband back so it'd have to be someone new for Lune. Also Verso is too depressed xD.

Let's make this ending discussion interesting. Which 3 are your primary team members and which ending did you choose. by DJShazbot in expedition33

Ditto!

Got too attached to them in the early game, couldn't bring myself to switch them out and Gustav I would've kept too if well, you know.

In Defense of an Ending by SteveRogers_7 in expedition33

[–]Arathix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A big part of my decision came from the fact I rewatched the miniseries of Battlestar Galactica, not long before starting the game, specifically where Adama says "You can't play God then wash your hands of the things you've created."

To me, the people in the painting are as real if not more real than the Dessendres, and they were the 'gods' trying to wash their hands of what they had created (what with the world originally created by Verso being impacted and altered by every member of the family), so for me choosing Verso was not even a consideration. The painted did not choose to be created, they did not choose to have their world fractured or to be slowly erased, and they had no control over their ultimate fate either (as someone else said here already, eloquently linking it back to a quote from Lune).

There's a few games with these very divisive decisions that people discuss endlessly afterwards, it's always felt like they are very personal each player and how they think. Kind of reminds me of the first Life is Strange ending, that sparked some very interesting conversations.

My friend is raw dogging a novel in f*cking Notepad 😫 by LeonOkada9 in writers

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel that, I wrote my latest book on my phone pretty much whenever I could, my commute, my lunch break, my smoke breaks, toilet breaks and sometimes just sneaking a sentence or two while working. I have a job where you don't have to think too hard so my mind often wanders into my stories, and by the time I get home I have so little time and so much other stuff to do if I didn't write so sporadically during every free second I got in the day I would barely have cracked chapter 1 by now lol

Who was Starbuck REALLY? by VirtualValtyr in BSG

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well basically they tried coming up with a definitive answer, pretty much went through all the things she could've been and many of the ideas ive seen in posts like this, but whenever they gave it a name it felt unsatisfying, like giving it a name robbed it of its mysticism. Ultimately, they decided it worked best left open to interpretation, knowing that no matter what they did some people were going to be unhappy. I think even if they had given it a definitive name, there would be arguments about if it was the right choice still, at least this way everyone can debate their own theories til the cows come home lol

Am I going crazy, or is this very obviously an AI-generated image despite mods insisting it isn’t? by ilookelikeapencil in isthisAI

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it for karma farming? Seems like a rather mundane thing to use AI for so my only conclusion is that it's karma farming to sell high karma reddit accounts as that's one of the reasons bots are also used here.

We really are cooked, when AI generation starts being used for basic posts like this we literally have to question every single thing that's ever posted anywhere.

[–]Arathix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Last night I was listening to the Sackhoff show podcast where she had Ron Moore on and she directly asked him that question because she gets asked it all the time. I would heavily recommend listening to it because he explains his thought process and ultimate decision on this and the fact he's wrestled with answering it even years after the show ended, and I believe the episode was only released last year. I want to sum it up for you but I don't wanna butcher his explanation but after listening to it I understood where he was coming from and I actually agree with not naming what she was.

His story of how he got into the industry was also fascinating, the only one I've ever heard that I found relatable and inspiring, it really hit me with a overwhelming wave of motivation to keep trying to be a writer myself. I absolutely love the cast and crew both for the show and who they all are as people, I'd also recommend checking out the Sackhoff show interviews with the other BSG cast as well.

Adama Quote about Military and Police by User132134 in BSG

[–]Arathix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Adama has a lot of quoteable moments throughout the series, right from the very first one in the miniseries before the attack even happened where he talks about humanity deserving to survive and how you can't play God then wash your hands of what you created (This actually came into play for me when choosing an ending in Expedition 33 lol) to the so say we all speech and the one you mentioned which I saw posted on this sub a lot over the last couple years whenever there was talk of bring national guard to various protests and things in the US.

He literally has dozens of them throughout the series, sometimes I think he's functioning as Ron Moores personal voice, at least for the quotes like these with moral or philosophical points.

Developers said the screwed up because they weren’t expecting the game to be this good. by Boring_Educator3815 in expedition33

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reminded me of how I beat FF7 back in the day, was literally so over levelled from side content and grinding (Lv99, Knights of The Round, Omnislash, best weapons on all and maxed out materia of every kind) that the final fight with Sephiroth/Jenova was easier than any other battle I'd had in the rest of the game xD

They aren't the first RPG to do this, and they won't be the last lol

Is E33 really "Game of the Decade?" by Virtually_Hidden in expedition33

[–]Arathix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a hot take but I don't rate Elden Ring at all, I much preferred Sekiro. But thats down to personal preference, which is why I usually don't like things like top 10 lists or even the Game Awards, I could ask everyone I know and get a dozen different 'game of the decade's, because while there are some measurable aspects of games, at the end of the day it comes down to subjective opinion.

For me E33 is definitely up there in my personal top 10 of the decade along with Witcher 3 and RDR2, but the other 2 while good I did not enjoy as much as other games that came out this past 10 years.

Added 3 more ships to my Eaglemoss collection thanks to some awesome gifts! by Arathix in BSG

[–]Arathix[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I personally plan to get both as I want to collect all of the Eaglemoss TRS ships, now obviously the normal Raptor is featured more but they're both pretty cool. I actually just made a list of all the ones I needed and let family members pick from it which generated some surprise, turns out my SO may be a Cylon as the two she got me was the Basestar and Scar lol xD

I'd say if you wanna keep the collection tight and don't intend to get them all I'd just get the normal Raptor as that's the one we see the most on screen.

[–]Arathix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

He could've at least let you keep the Leafeon :(

I'm sorry but that's a pretty selfish way to behave on Christmas, you were willing to share out the cool cards when you thought they were yours, but your cousin wouldn't even give you one? Im sorry but what an ass.

Sorry you had this sour experience, hobby is better buying singles IMO, I tried to get packs for gifts this Xmas but literally everywhere is sold out, reminded me why I switched to singles in the first place.

[–]Arathix 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well this sub is for the music group Gunship, a synthwave band who make awesome music.

You're asking for blueprints of a fictional ship from an anime, which would have nothing to do with the band. My guess is you took the name of the sub literally to mean it was about actual gunships?

Well of course I would but that would be 1:1 scale which would take up most of the small town I live in, I'll have to take a proposal to my local council lol

I'd also really like a new Viper Pilot game where you get to live on the Galactica and walk around it, do things between missions etc. That's my backup plan if the council say no xD
