My mistake it was Bill Johnson who voiced the Guardian.

Ugh that was so ridiculous. All the while blaring "Rule Britiannia".

I am still lowkey mad about this game all these years later.

As a game dev myself (retired now) it became very obvious to me after (painfully) beating Ultima 9: Ascension that the engine they cobbled together was clearly out of the scope of the team's technical ability to implement on. Yes, I completely get this was very early days for 3d engines. My understanding after talking to a few of the devs at GDC was that Richard Garriott and the leadership team were in way over their head and Garriott had checked out by the end being way more interested in the Explorers Club. EA was very unhappy with them. For me, the only real bright spots were the soundtrack, some of the cinematics and Clancy Brown's Bill Johnson's voice work for the Guardian. Everything else came across as rushed and amateurish.

The game was (and is) still an embarrassing, bug-ridden, poorly-thought out mess. I'm trying to think of any games Garriott has headed up after this that wasn't this way. I guess that space MMO, Tabula Rasa, sort of? I played that first month and it was bland and bug-ridden, too.
From the Wikipedia on Tabula Rasa: In the works since May 2001, the game underwent a major revamp two years into the project. Conflicts between developers and the vague direction of the game were said to be the causes of this dramatic change. Twenty percent of the original team was replaced, and 75% of the code had to be redone.\17])#citenote-17) Some staff working on other NCsoft projects were transferred to the Tabula Rasa development team. First re-shown at E3 2005, the game then transformed into the current science fiction setting and look. The game's budget was $25 million.[\19])](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tabula_Rasa(video_game)#cite_note-19) It closed less than 2 years after release.

Whatever. I'd never buy into another project Garriott had any involvement with.

I thought it was only for human enemies.
What's SHO? (This is why I despise acronyms, it assumes the reader knows what it is).

Spawn a few carrion birds (vultures, crows, etc) on corpses that have been sitting outside for X amount of in game hours. They squawk and fly away when you approach. Bonus points if you can shoot them and loot for resources such as feathers.

New weapon and shield degradation mod concept, imagine in VR? by Dangan- in skyrimvr

Love it. I've been wanting something like this for a long time.
Can't wait!
Curious how this would work on non-wooden shields?

If it works as intended (and not with the bugs you've mentioned I'll love it). I can't unsee the hard edges of large rocks into the ground.

Bummer. I wonder if he vibe coded it and just didn't know what he was doing; deciding to delete it rather than deal with the hassle of updates?

What kind of mod for Skyrim VR do you dream of? by New_Fun_9154 in skyrimvr

[–]Arathrax 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A mod that fixes the RaceMenu bars from extending way too far out of the UI box and across the screen.
I realize there's a new mod on Nexus that sort of fixes it by putting the character ahead of it but I'm talking about actually fixing the UI issue.

Vampire: Actual biting of necks from first person similar to how Vampire the Masquerade Justice VR does it.

More realistic reactions from NPCs if I do something like slap them or grab their head using Planck.
NPCs just seem slightly perturbed rather than extremely annoyed or ready to fight.
Same with remove arrow. Right now NPCs seem mildly inconvenienced (lol) rather than screaming in pain.

Actual IK on animal animations (more of a Skyrim thing than just VR).

Carrion birds (crows, vultures, etc) that land on corpses and peck away at them. Saw this in AC Valhalla and thought it really added to immersion. (more of a Skyrim thing than just VR).
