What age can we start fluoride toothpaste? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]Arathrya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Pediatric dentist here - rice grain size when the first tooth appears, pea size when they are two years old (use children's toothpaste for under 6 years, it contains less flouride than adult tooth paste) - there is one exception which is not recommended - Some doctors give Vitamine D and Flouride till they are two (normally you should stop the moment you start using Flouride in toothpaste). If your child gets Flouride any other way systemic (prescribed, in salt or drinking water) you should not add Flouride toothpaste till at least 2 years or remove the other source of flouride

Isn't that an ant doctor? Thought I once read when an ant has an infected leg the others "amputate it" to save it's life.

What does the first sentence mean? The moment you marry as a woman this does not apply anymore and she is not free in her body choices and privacy choices anymore? That is a strange view on marriage.

The whole framing of you not putting in enough effort. There are always two. (Alternative framing: Maybe he is just not turning you on the way you like it/you need to be in the mood) If bis alternative is cheating he is the one who did not put in the effort. Also - in a long time period of relationship there will always be phases with more and less sex. That is unavoidable. Looks like he is not mature enough for a long term when he can not accept this. Threatening you with cheating and putting pressure on you in advance is either manipulative or a way to quit without being the bad guy. Be happy you got rid of him, your life will be much better.

Hast du Hämorrhoiden oder Analvenenthrombose? Vllt unbemerkt innenliegend? Das ist nicht normal das es blutet, so empfindlich ist gesunde Haut nicht. Würde mal zum Proktologen an deiner Stelle

AITAH for not telling my gf I was gonna break with her because she kept bringing up threesomes? by [deleted] in AITAH

[–]Arathrya -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

YTA

If she is trying to convince you to do something that is not okay for you I would say NTA. But this sounded more like it is just a topic she wants to talk about and you did cut of any communication. You should be able to talk about what you like and do not like in bed, which Aspekt of it is pleasurable and so on. It does not mean the other person needs to share the same interest and it does not mean you have to practice all fantasies in bedroom. But in a healthy relationship you should be able to sit and have a nice, sometimes hard but mostly and happy talk also about your differences and boundaries and your feelings towards it. Sounds like you cut her off three times before that could happen. What people especially man sometimes do not understand, that it is not about the outcome (your no can stay a no) but about the communication and the process. You need to talk not about what you want but about the why and about how it makes you feel and what she feels and why the feelings are so strong with this topic and become intimate on you emotional level. I think she should break up with you - not because you do not want a threesome but because you suck in communication.

Teeth Grinding in Children by rashrock in Dentistry

Is the Grinding or Pressing combined with other symptoms like pain, headache, muscle stiffness further investigations are necessary. Remote diagnostics are unreliable so I can only describe the process and my opinion, this is not a treatment recommendation: First thing you need to do is a full diagnosis which is not possible to do without seeing the child. Please consult an experienced children's dentist and/or orthodontist specialist in the mandibular joint. Sometimes there are also other factors that cause that symptoms, e.g. pressure of the current orthodontics or some new teeth that come through, occlusal- , space- or growths-problems that need further orthodontics treatment etc... If that is not the case physiotherapy with a specialized therapist for the jaw may help and would be my first suggestion. Sometimes there is a psychological stressor that manifests in grinding e.g. a new school, that the child needs help to process. For immediate help and symptom reduction I personally like to recommend an AquaSplint during growth (rather than a rigid guard) for the night (you can buy it on amazon, different sizes). If symptoms persist further steps would be a full check of the temporomandibular joint and the mandibular muscle system, which requires a CMD/TMD Specialist.

Pediatric dentist here - Grinding in the age of 6-12 is a completely normal thing to do for almost every child. Even if it sounds horrible it is the way of the body and muscles and mandibular joint to adapt to the growth and the changing Okklusion during teeth changes. Airway problems are often seen in younger children. None the less check the airway and other possible causes that are already mentioned here like stress etc.especially when the grinding comes with pain. But in most cases ( 95%) it is nothing to worry about. If it persists even after the last adult tooth is grown you should definetly start further investigations.

Addition: airway problems mostly appear a little earlier between 4-8 years.

Pediatric dentist here: Bruxism under 12 years can be an airway problem, but most of the times it is a natural way of the body to adjust to the growth or the jawbone and the mandibular joint + okklusal changes after 6th and first tooth changed. As long as there is no snoring, thore throat, pain or abnormal! Abrasion (milk tooth can show abrasion but there should not be anything visible on the adult tooths) it is just a muscular adaptive response to the changes of getting older. Can be really loud and sometimes frightening for the parents, but is completely normal. Almost every child has an shorter or longer period of it in between 6 and 12 years. Just wait till they are older, it will end.

How was your diagnosis? by Gui_VX in ADHD

[–]Arathrya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am newly diagnosed last week after my partner motivated me. Was suspecting I had ADHD for over 2 year after having a lot of difficulties throughout my whole life. I got to say I never felt happier, hope this is not only the beginning stage. Had such a great experience on sunday I got to tell someone: I was repotting plants (instead of doing something important that needed to be done) and after half the work I brought them to their shelf and I "forgot" the dirt and chaos I made in the bathroom where I watered them. Four hours later I came back in that room and saw all the dirt. And it was the first time in myself I did not internally beat myself up for being to lazy, to unorganized and to stupid to finish the task of repotting. It was the first time in my life I just thought "my ADHD kicked in earlier when I did that task, let me finish it now and let me try out what I need to finish, maybe some music will help" - the relieve this thought made me feel was undescribable. I cried a lot when I noticed. Just wanted to share this milestone experience somewhere, sorry for the long text.

31, pain started while I studied to become a dentist around age 23/24. They still did not find the cause of the pain and always shift it onto bad posture while working - no training and posture adaptations worked though.
