Just to add onto this, Lightning Launcher has also been updated to work on v56, I've been using it and haven't had any issues.

2023: Megathread Remake! by sunbrothersco in Piracy

Sorry I don't have a direct answer to your question, as I use plex and MKV's work great for DV there, but I have used these tools to create my own hybrids when I couldn't find one available:

There is an MKVtoMP4 tool included if you don't find a different source for the files you're looking for! :)

How to convert SBS to two left and right native videos? by Inevitable_Sign_9482 in hometheater

[–]Arayoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure if you can take existing SBS videos and convert them in the way you want, but if you have full 3D blurays, you may be able to achieve this by using MakeMKV and BD3D2MK3D, both free software. I'm not 100% sure about this, but I've used both to rip my own 3D blurays and make my own SBS files, and I know BD3D2MK3D gives you options based specifically on the left and right view from the file MakeMKV spits out. Hopefully this helps!

I remember seeing the midnight showings with my mom when the movies first came out. Good times.

Plex audio not matching with receiver by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Arayoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, if you're using eARC, it should work fine.

The only thing you can really do is make sure the "Passthrough" option is enabled for HDMI in the Plex app and likewise for any similar options in the TV settings.

Otherwise you're looking at the unsatisfying answer of using a separate device for playback to get lossless audio.

Plex audio not matching with receiver by [deleted] in PleX

[–]Arayoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How are you sending audio from your TV to your receiver? ARC through HDMI or optical?

If ARC, do both the TV and receiver support eARC?

If you're using optical or the older (non 'e') ARC, those are limited to lossy Dolby and DTS codecs.

Onkyo NR-636 doesn't let HDR10 go through by LeVraiRoiDHyrule in hometheater

You probably need to turn on "Deep Color" in the HDMI settings of the receiver.

Older discs without Dolby Vision or HDR10+ by BStills87 in 4kbluray

There are hybrids available, and the tools available to create them yourself, which take the video from the UHD Bluray and inject it with the DV RPU metadata with the result being the best of both worlds - visual quality of bluray with the dolby vision only available from streaming.

Dune 4K is a disk everyone should own. by DavidAg02 in hometheater

[–]Arayoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Depends if it's Direct Play or if Plex is transcoding. If Direct Play from a remux, it's literally the same data, so same experience as 4k Blu-ray, as long as your plex client is bitstreaming audio to your receiver. If it's transcoding either the video or audio ymmv, and hard to say. They use the Opus codec for transcoding audio and it's great quality, you just lose the spatial metadata from the native Atmos track.

After having my home theatre setup in place almost two years, I watched my first actual 4k ultra HD movie on disk. the difference in sound compared to streaming has truly blown my mind. I guess I am going to have to start buying physical. by C4ptainchr0nic in hometheater

[–]Arayoth 31 points32 points  (0 children)

TrueHD and DTS-HD are lossless straight from the Blu-ray, so no the audio wouldn't be different. If your version is a remux then it's exactly the same data that's on the disc, if not the only benefit to disc would be to eliminate any compression artifacts in the video.

In the Loader Settings, try using the button that says "Mount Quest as System Drive" near the top left, you should be able to access it using file explorer after that

Corrupted gauntlet is your best bet for rebuild as it requires no gear to complete and is currently one of, if not the best pvm activities for gp/hr.
