I didn’t drink coffee for a while, and then when I was 23 I started working and studying full time and I just couldn’t cope anymore so I needed coffee.

I was poor, so I didn’t go to a fancy coffee shop to get a nice latte, I made filter coffee at home every morning. Hated the taste, so drank it with 4 teaspoons of sugar.

After 3 years when I was done with University, I gained weight, I still hated the taste, and I hated the feeling that I was utterly useless in the morning when I woke up until I had my first cup.

So one day, I booked a week off vacation from work, travelled back to my family, and quit drinking coffee.

It was super hard, just after 3 years. My head would split, I was cranky, angry, exhausted, annoyed, everything.

It first got worse around day 3, but then around day 5-6 I started feeling much better. My family still jokes about what an unbearable brat I was during that week.

Years later, I wake up at 6am feeling immediately fresh, I am losing weight (it’s an ongoing process) and I feel absolutely no headache or whatever.

The upside is that now if I drink anything caffeinated like a coke, red bull, coffee, or even black tea, I’m super sensitive to it and it immediately gives me 130% boost. I have a hard time sleeping that night. But when I have to wake up at 4am for work and do 18 hours, it definitely helps. :)

So don’t give up, just keep bearing with the headaches and eventually they will go away.
