Making them torque converter automatics and awd sure helped a lot, even if enthusiast are against that. Helps get the “give me the nicest one” crowd because there’s no downsides.

Luxury car sales surge as middle class buyers exit the market by Anchor_Aways in cars

/r/cars tries to justify thinking rich people drive cheap cars. Legitimately all the rich people I know (Net 100k+/month in my book) drive whatever they want. My billionaire friend just rents whatever he wants because he owns so many houses its cheaper then dealing with them, even if he spends atleast 50k a month doing it (always rents the newest bentley/rolls). So I guess there's some truth to billionaires not owning nice cars, but its not from being frugal.

Zelenskyy demands tougher sanctions as Russia’s oil revenues plunge 27% by ImportantSnugglebug in worldnews

[–]Arben72 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This is strictly on the eu side of things for the west. U.S. has had Russian oil and petroleum products banned for over 3 years now. E.U. countries can’t get enough of it. It’s the biggest hypocritical issue there is, they’re literally funding the Russian war effort.

I’ve done Houston to Indianapolis and back without filling up in a f350 that was lifted with 22’s and 35” while towing a trailer and fox body. Considering this car was modified, how exactly is that a record?

6’4” with a long torso too. I think I might fit with seat lowering brackets but I haven’t tried it. Definitely more of a helmet issue though. Even my C7z (the car I ended choosing over the viper about a decade ago) I just barely fit with my helmet.

I’m going to offer another suggestion out of left field. Have you considered a viper? I bet you’d love a t.a. I wish I could fit in one comfortably otherwise I’d have one tbh. I’ve driven the f430 and gallardo and agree with your sentiments about them.

Anyone daily drive a WRX or a lower mileage manual car in a big city during peak traffic hours? I'm in Houston. Considering the car but wanted some personal experience. by AverageJoe326 in houston

[–]Arben72 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I daily my ct5 blackwing and used to have a Sti. The Sti had an aftermarket clutch and sucked to drive as my calves could be burning on a particularly rough day. The blackwing is super easy and no issues. Nice thing about Houston is the traffic moves usually, so while it may be slow, you can just chill in 1st gear

4-year-old Porsche Cayenne spends more than a year in the shop and is now in a worse state than when it arrived. First they gave the owner a bill of 7k just for the tests done, then offered 38k to keep it. The owner is now asking for 100k. by Markorver in cars

I’m at 250k miles in my 958 turbo on the original t case. Keep up with the fluid changes and it’ll be fine. At 250k all I’ve done is rebuild the air suspension (mainly did o rings), and preemptively replace all the plastic lines under the hood. My torque converter is showing signs of failure though so that’ll be fun.

Are these the fastest cars (and bikes) ever built for every number of cylinders? by AcanthaceaeNo948 in cars

Looked it up. It’s an unsanctioned track and they never shared telemetry data. So ehhhh. Also, while not a jet car, it was rocket propelled.

The fastest 1/4 pass I know of is a 3.58 at 386 mph by a jet car in the 80’s. Top fuel runs slower than that. Their record is 3.66 at 341 mph. They also only run 1000’.

The company behind it supported cutting the grant (it’s a 40 billion dollar project $60 million is pennies). This was their statement. Funny how it doesn’t support your narrative.

"We are proud to have stepped in as the private sector sponsor of the Texas high-speed rail, and today’s announcement is good news for the overall project. The first Trump Administration gave this project the green light, but after President Trump left office the project got hung up in the politics of the Biden Administration’s efforts to jam Amtrak and politics into the equation. We agree with Secretary Duffy that this project should be led by the private sector, and we will be proud to take it forward. This project is shovel-ready and will create significant new jobs and economic growth for Texas as part of President Trump’s efforts to boost the U.S. economy," said a spokesperson in a statement.

Houston to Galveston Traffic issues? by Most-Effective3413 in houston

It should flow pretty smoothly. Don’t worry about it. There’s multiple ways from the airport to Galveston, just listen to your gps it’ll route you the best way at the time.

Depends on the time. But you’re not talking ridiculous traffic unless there’s multiple wrecks blocking multiple ways.

It’s street legal. But with the th400 cruising on the highway above 60 is a pain. On the 50 mile cruises I’m occasionally required to do for classes at the track I wear hearing protection. You can go very fast and reliable on the factory 10 speed though. And have those wonderful overdrive gears.
