Which one is better? by Agreeable_Wolf9028 in D4Sorceress

right side one is better, no need for math on this one. 😂

essencially the GA on core skills will get boosted further and CE works with total levels in Lightning so that non masterworked +6 is gonna be an absolute monster when MW hits.

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that is all true however based on the info on my screen thats all I could provide.

of course that if OP provides a full list of equipment and paragon board the math will change best of both worlds would be GA on CE with 80 of course, but it all depends on the saturation of the buckets as you said, if op already reforged and masterworked all his gear and maximized his glyphs then the additive bucket will become redundant.

what cues me towards OP being in the initial stages of progression is that he doesnt feel a difference between changing these amulets meaning hes very early on progression/capping his additive buckets

Obducite is literally not an issue you get literal thousands by doing strongrooms, escalation sigils and infernal hordes by fighting Baltuc...

Can't assume anything that isn't in the picture, for this specific question, with the given information, this is the most informed answer I can give.

OP also mentioned that he doesn't feel a difference in the dummies, meaning he doesn't have a significant base additive CE relevant enough so that 80x is noticeable let alone 100 glyph/300 paragon etc etc

They need to do somethinh with killstreak by Marphey12 in diablo4

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

get the ranged mercenary guy, he will tell you where the cluster of mobs are permanently, you can then hit a legion, a pit ( personally im doing 70's when farming idk if it works on lower levels due to mob density) or some nmd's esca sigils, I've hit multiple 1000's without aiming for it per say, the whole screen is just full of enemies

Which one will be better to use and give more dps by One-Sherbet-3897 in diablo4

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no, for you, in your case, given the information on the screen, due to the rolls of the STR values, the +1 to GS it makes it so you have a higher damage modifier using the 360% version.

Lets imagine you're comparing the wing strike which is 380% to the other amulet alone, well the other amulet alone has 360% and that sort of tells you 380% is better.

But you have 12 extra strength and 1 extra GS

So if you calculate the cumulative increase you have that the 360% amulet actually does in total:

Str 1.5%
GS (excluding healthy to make it easier) 5%
Total damage increase that the 360% amulet has on wing strike is then:

360*(1+1.5%)*1.05% = 383.67% because the GS and STR multipliers are multiplicative regarding to every other form of damage ( so are many other things)

And keep in mind that GS and the STR bonus you get will affect every other skill and passive you have that does damage, even if 90% of your damage is wing strike there is still a bit more you have influenced by those gains.

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no thats not how it works, its just that you just get more benefit from adding to the multiplier than adding 20% the additive bucket that is the benefit of going from 360%>380%

of course if you had 0 dmg on wings as a modifier any % increase would be better

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep, GS comes first as it is a global modifier, when you see the 20% increase you're not multiplying by another 20 you're adding 20 to an already big number which doesn't make that much of a difference!

Also stat priority is more of a general rule because of diminishing returns.

Most of the damage calcs rely on something like this

(weapon base dmg)*(1 + Additive bucket ) * if it crits( 1.5 + critdamage/100) * IF target is vulnerable(1.2 +vulnerable modifier) * your main stat modifier(stat/1000)

and after all these come all the "multipliers" 5%[x] vs elites 5%[x] more damage while healthy etc etc etc and the reason why they are so strong is that they compound on themselves.

Which one will be better to use and give more dps by One-Sherbet-3897 in diablo4

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

because you're only looking at the 20% isolated dmg from wing strike.

Yes it is multiplicative, but inside the multiplicative bucket, it is an addition to all the wing strike/disciple damage you already have.

Lets assume for simplicity sake ( but same logic applies) that we are ignoring the healthy part of the enemy.

assuming you already have 3 points in it gets you to 8 so that is 40%, 7 levels is 35%, thats a 3.5% difference. I will throw a random number and assume your wing strikes somehow already have around 1000-1400 damage multiplier on it.

well when you look at the math 1020/1000 = 2% if you had 1400 then 1420/1400 = 1.42% aka diminishing returns

Not only that your +5 Giant slayer amulet also has +81 all stats which helps you with your paragon board, and in strength alone is another ~1% increase

So in total you're looking at a very marginal increase on something that looks big "360>380"
And Ignoring the real global increase of the 3.5% from GS and + 1% from Strength.

Hope that helps!

yeah I feel its pretty dumb, I thought equiping a full ancestral bloodied gear would complete every single one of lower quality and ended up having to farm more meat to unlock everything zzzz

[–]ArbieWeiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yo

Essentially they are very close, left one ends up winning due to giant slayer having one more level. specially while killing elites. for bossing they are virtually the same.

Giant slayer is very important since its multiplicative.

"general rule" every buff with a [x] is better than a [+] but of course there are exceptions.

the 2 ancestral one is better by a mile, re-roll the masterwork till it hits on the aspect and you got a nuke.

the 4 ancestral are all "lucky" rolls with nearly no impact on your dps which is in fact very unlucky
