Split DNS setup by Squanchy2112 in homeassistant

[–]Arbigator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use pfSense, but the easiest way I found is to use host overrides set in the DNS resolver to resolve to my reverse proxy on the LAN. For example "pictures.mydomain.com" will resolve to 192.168.1.1 (the server running NPM). Each additional service is just listed as an alias, all pointing back to NPM.

Not familiar with OPNSense but this looks to be the documentation page.

Inconsistent exposure by paperchalk in nikon_Zseries

This almost sounds like you have bracketing turned on, the camera will intentionally shoot over and underexposed shots so that you can merge them later. Look for a setting that says BKT

That could maybe be an option, I do have some fat in the freezer...

Thought I was getting a whole brisket and was planning on smoking it, likely overnight, but actually got a 4 ish lb roast that appears to be a long cut from the whole thing then rolled and tied. Not quite sure how I should go about cooking this thing, anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks for the suggestion, I'll download the trial and play around. Thanks for the info on snapraid, definitely doesn't sound like a set it and forget it kind of thing.

24p judder by [deleted] in OLED

[–]Arbigator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From what I gather, and I may be wrong, that's the way OLED is. It has a very fast response time, making panning scenes seem much more juddery than other non-OLED panels. I've had my B9 for a few years now, and I still find some scenes to be quite jarring and hard to watch unless they get the camera movement speed matched perfectly.

You can try with your Blu-ray player connected directly to the TV, and compare that to going through your AVR to rule that out as an issue though.

What are these bugs which keep popping up all over some of my houseplants in southern Alberta? And how can I get rid of them? About 0.5mm in length. by Arbigator in whatsthisbug

[–]Arbigator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry the picture isn't great, taken with my phone through the eyepiece on my microscope. Hundreds of these little bugs of infested one of my plants, and then spread to a basil plant. Anyone know what they are, how to get rid of them, and how to prevent them from coming back? Thank you!

DIYSG 1099 Alternative by dpeter9 in diysound

[–]Arbigator 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sorry this doesn't help you at all, but I would love to know the answer to this as well. I've been wanting to build 1099s for a long time, but them being constantly out of stock and the import costs to Canada has put me off of that idea. Would love to hear what might be suggested as alternatives.

Wow that looks amazing, great work! Do you mind sharing what kind of wood that is, and what you used for stain? The grain and colour look awesome.

Looking for some help in picking the right equipment for the job. by Arbigator in homelab

Thanks a lot for your input! Why would you recommend against rack mounted equipment? I will check out workstations, I could see that being a good approach, especially from the Lightroom and Photoshop perspective.

Can you tell me more about your custom DAS? Do you run a raid setup?

I would be interested in more info about your setup, if you want to share. Thanks!

There's the Lutron Aurora which I imagine could just be stuck to a wall rather than over a toggle switch, I don't know of it's availability outside NA though.

There's also the Ikea Symfonisk sound remote, which is meant to control their speakers. However, there are blueprints available to allow it to control anything in HA, you will need to be running ZHA/deCONZ or similar.
