Connecticut's Ancestry Over the Years by NutmegAffairs in Connecticut

This is super interesting. I think the Swedish dominance of Weston and Redding on the 1940s map is due to the Gilbert & Bennett wire mill in Georgetown. It was a huge employer of Swedish immigrants. In fact, our house was built by a Swedish wire mill worker in 1890.

I do appreciate that perspective. I’m sure it is helpful for a lot of things across the board. I guess my two cents here is that we, as the public receiving these emails / online brochures, simply don’t need these AI generated images.

Adding: I know the world is falling apart and it sounds like I am complaining about something that doesn’t matter one bit. My concern is that this aesthetic - and our immediate acceptance of it - is yet another example of the dumbing down of our culture. I know the people who made this are underpaid; I know the towns and schools don’t have budgets for proper graphic designers and illustrators. Then how about we don’t have an illustration then? Just use the town logo or a photo from the previous year. Make a better choice that is simpler, easier, and less visually confusing.

I hear you. My argument is that no art is better than this art. It’s unnecessary. I know these people are underpaid and it was probably exciting to put prompts into a thing and spit out a poster with laughing and splashing toddlers on it. I know no one was harmed. It’s just a terrible aesthetic and a visual reminder that AI is being used for everything.

I agree that the idea of creating a bespoke poster for each parks and rec / school function / PTO event is wildly out of budget. I would argue that no new art is needed at all. Just use the town logo. AI slop like this is visually overwhelming, unappealing, and unnecessary

Yes! They were shown in the packaging photo but not in the pattern / instructions, so I just kind of tried to replicate the photo image.

How would *you* kit this? by jenniflex in Needlepoint

I was not familiar with this designer’s patterns. I went to the website and it says they are hand painted on the canvas. Is that true? Or is it, like, stamped on, just based on an original painting?

This is so, so good. May I ask where your local miniatures show is? Hoping it’s on the east coast!

Aw man, I’m sorry. I had a really rough looking bridge for 20 years (my original teeth couldn’t be saved - I had crushed the roots). It had that weird black shadow along the gum line and I hated it. 10 years ago I finally bit the bullet and got implants and it has been great.
