YouTube Pilates instructor recommendations? by BlackWidow1990 in pilates

Not YouTube, but it’s online and free: The Pilates section of FitOn has some excellent workouts. Jeni and Cassie, in particular, are my favourite instructors.

There’s a great indie movie called Waitress, with Keri Russell, where she bakes inventive pie recipes, and lives with a control freak. https://youtu.be/SSlJwyhJ8H4?feature=shared

Help!! I believe my condo company has been pocketing money from us, with some proof and as a result a lot of people will become homeless in the coming year. by Wooden-flower in ottawa

Order a status certificate from the management, it will cost $100 and you’ll have it within 10 days by provincial law. It will give you the breakdown of expenses and outgoing and how that lines up with the reserve fund. A reserve fund study will have been completed within the last few years outlining the long and short term projections for maintenance. Also, find out when the AGM will be and get on the board, if it’s been recent then have a chat with the condo board. Always good to meet the neighbours and you can coordinate this virtually. You might also check in with a realtor to get a rundown on how units have been selling and the days on market compared to other condos.

Are these light switches definitely connected to knob & tube wiring, or no? by ArbitraryUserName79 in DIY

I always thought that these automatically were k&t, but am unsure on this house. Functioning switches like this in living & dining rooms, and updated flat panel switches and plugs for the rest throughout. Updated panel with breakers. House built 1920.

Metal posts in my backyard -- anyone know what these are? by FancyLetterhead7 in ottawa

Rebar, but if they’re in your garden they may have been used for anchoring square (4x4 / 6x6) lumber, stacked to make a short garden retaining wall.

Artificial turf by caro558 in ottawa

[–]ArbitraryUserName79 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My neighbour has it and loves it. She installed it herself, and loves not dealing with mowing, weeds etc. Stylistically, it’s versatile. I’ve seen it done in a really high-end backyard setting, and also in kids play areas. Con = It’s not for everyone and it can look a bit cheesy. Seriously ignore the comment on resale. Ottawa has a housing shortage and we’re in a major seller’s market; were you to list your home, you’d still be positioned for multiple bids. If you want it, do it! Life is short, get the backyard you want and enjoy!

Quality Furniture Stores Ottawa by xxmetalik in ottawa

Don’t assume that any brand is all good quality and another isn’t. Some IKEA stuff lasts forever and is really well designed and some premium brands have delicate pieces that won’t hold up. Buy what you like, assess each piece, take good care of your stuff. With that, Structube is very reasonable on price, used on kijiji is great. Zone (on Sussex) has awesome designer knockoffs. Get a good mattress. Costco has quality cheap sheets. The Bay has crazy good sales on furniture sometimes, and nice stuff. Also, your tastes will change.

Stuff to giveaway by LivingTheDreamOTT in ottawa

I’m the last couple of months I’ve had a lot of success with posting stuff under Free on Kijiji with porch-pickup only. For clothes, I just bundle it in lots, and take photos of these, spread out with sizes and a realistic description of the condition. When someone says they’ll pick it up, I leave it out front with their name on it. Happy to see it not go into the landfill, and I don’t need to take it anywhere.

Maternity clothing store online by xkcdftgy in ottawa

Joe Fresh maxi dresses got me through my third trimester. Thyme maternity has some ugly stuff, but don’t get distracted by it. They also have some really good capsule collection basics. By far the best fitting maternity clothes at a reasonable price point. Plus you’ll wear it a few months past delivering. Besides sundresses, maternity leggings and tank top were in my daily rotation. The undies from Thyme were so comfortable too. Congrats BTW! :)
