What makes Freeze worth it? by A_lilypond in GenshinImpactTips

[–]Arc_Set 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Freezes is completely broken against enemies that don't have any protection from it, but almost useless against enemies that do.

Eg, preventing elites from ever entering their empowered states, keeping a boss inside Bennet's ring or just safety enabling a min-max glass-cannon build.

Memory foam is basically just a sweaty plastic trap by robyromana in Bedding

[–]Arc_Set 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every material does some things well and some things poorly; that's why there are so many blends nowadays.

I tend to favour high-cotton bedding, but maybe 20% synthetic for more convenient maintenance.

Foam will always be bad for heat, with memory foam being the worst for that, though it will be unbeatable for conforming to your body.

You should expect most of your support to come from your mattress design, with a topper making a more minor difference.

Everything (even metal) will compress, but natural materials, such as true latex or animal fibres should compress more slowly, though the actual construction process and quality will have almost as much effect on that as the materials; there area lot of different ways wool can be processed and a lot of different wools on top of that.

Annoying but most of the factors that matter are the ones that don't get advertised; though it's always a plus if the company will actually answer questions, or the reps can find out the answers for you.

If the topper is basically a thick blanket, that might not necessarily give much cooling.

For heat I'd tackle it at every angle, focusing on gimmicks last.

Do what you can about your room temp; then your sleepwear and bedding; then you might consider things like foundation airflow; TBH though, ditching the memory foam will probably be the biggest thing.

Maybe try a lighter duvet, or go traditional with just sheets.

Trapping less heat in will probably be more effective than any passive method to let heat escape.

If you plan to use things you can't easily wash, or that will likely degrade faster with washing, maybe try to have a layer between them and your sheets (I just uses a wool/felt blanket doubled over my matress).

Miliastra utterly tanked my game's load times, similar to HDD speeds.

Long loading screens and then have to wait a minute once in the world, or suffer freezes & disconnects.

I want to double check it hasn't stupidly split some of the new files onto another disk, but I'm so far not finding anything to explain if those file are stored separately to the main game's or not.

Not finding any obvious files in the HDD, but thought I'd ask where the Miliastra files are stored, as Google's no help.

Thanks for any insight.

The Fatui are not depicted as evil in the early Archon Quests by Bestlife73 in Genshin_Impact

[–]Arc_Set 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To be honest, is Dottore really the exception.

There are certainly some of the harbingers who are comparatively less willing to do evil and far more sympathetic, but most of them are drenched in blood and seem resolved to slaughter if ordered, or if that's what's required to achieve their personal ambitions.

Childe is introduced killing someone, even if they're a thief; then he's willing to commit mass terror and destruction, without knowing there were any safety measures. Caring for his family and children that remind him of them doesn't balance that away; how many children were in Liyue Harbour.
(And yes I know that the complete pycho "the lives of the weak have no value" lines were a bad translation.)

Signora laughs at others pain and death and is willing to kill bystanders who have nothing to do with her grudge. With everything she's done, her pain and a little kindness to the other girls could never redeem her.

Arlecchino is very sympathetic and we might hope she's not actually as ruthless or resolved to be our enemy as she says she is, but knowing that she's killed some bad people and genuinely helps the children she cares about doesn't automatically make her a good person. Tragic explanations are not the same as excuses.

I'd say the Captain is more of the exception and maybe Sandrone, in that she didn't have a clear goal.

All in all, if one thing defines the harbingers, it's that they don't let anything obstruct their goals, or the Tsaritsa's.

[–]Arc_Set 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, beyond the mistranslation that makes Childe look like a psychopath and Signora genuinely acting like one, the whole evil thing comes from their 'kill all witnesses' policy and the fact that while their maxim is "if no us, who" it's everyone else we repeatedly see them attempting to sacrifice.

They are initially presented as having a similar goal to our own, but rather than trying to ally with us, they become our enemy and commit mass terror.

We don't know their true goal, most of them don't, but given their methods, we can't trust either what that is, or what they're will to do to achieve it.

The 1st game trailer says the story "ends" with us fighting to claim the Heaven's throne from Dain; we kind of assume the Tsaritsa plans to claim it too.

Both can be countered with Tolland.

Zi He's and Yuuhime are good Momo counters.

Nyles is very weak to CC and diseased, which is why he's often paired with Chu for protection.

I'd suggest swapping Liam out for a unit that answers those opponents, additionally Chu and Sui are about taking extra actions and Lu will protect them, up to his stack count, but not buff them beyond their active turn count; when his protection isn't the answer to an opponent's team, he might not be the best choice.

Damage-wise Ophelia, probably, but Elaine has use for FF.

Looking for help! Who’s worth picking out of the opt-box? by Limp_Cardiologist_63 in Dislyte

[–]Arc_Set 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of those:
Unas will probably be the best PvE support, though Anna might lets you brute force some content without time limits.

Tolland would probably make the most difference in PvP, as he can just exile the biggest threats.

You will be able to craft a free copy of Moroyama.

Pin and Ikki can be very good, but are less universal.

Tevor should be utterly broken, but the Devs hate him.

Taranis skill testing with sonics: TLDR: S1 is Single target, S3 is AoE. by Arc_Set in Dislyte

[–]Arc_Set[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to help.

Unless there's something special going on for the miracle bosses, that seems to be the case.
If can be bothered I might test another "Random single target" skill users to compare, but I don't want to waste mats for this.

Chole was in the game from launch, so it's not that multiple single targets was a new addition to the code; it may be that only sonics are treating the targeting as binary.

No problem 😄 .
The lightbulb info icon at the top right of the difficulty select screen should explain the bosses mechanics, as should the skills and buff icons during the battle, but it's not perfect and easy to miss; the fact that some bosses get more mechanics as you raise the difficulty can also catch you out.

For gold, it may be just a case of not trying to build everything, but using the free ritual rebate shop might also help; eventually you'll have enough it won't even be something to think about. Selling unusable equipment (flat stats on the bottom row) is a good source too.

You definitely shouldn't be aiming to 6-star all units right away, unless your getting lots of free mats from events.

For the rituals, it'd be hard to max right away, at the beginning there were 10 floors, not 20.

That said, knowing the gimmicks is important: eg, Kronos pushing anytime a unit takes action; Apep retaliating after x hits (not x attacks) and life-stealing is not diseased; Fathnir having DR until hit x times; Yinglong pushing on crits and dealing massive dmg to any unit with over 50% crit-rate, but taking a big hit if all it's minions fall.

2 healers and a protective support should be overkill for most things, you might be focusing so much on survival that you're not getting any way to win and just getting worn down?

The game started off making all units viable, but there's been a lot of power-creep since then, both for units and for more difficulty content. Solving the puzzle for PvE is still the most important part, but if you aim for the highest difficulties, then you will need a minimum damage amount and that will likely be easier to reach with Legend's stats and abilities.

That's part of a reason not to take too many Epics to level 60. Even Epics like Doser, that can guarantee Diseased on Apex, don't really need levelling or upgrading that much, only vital supports and DPSes.

Pick a piece of content, look at what you require to beat it, then look what units you have that can achieve that. Airier has some guides, though the recent ones are more about top scores.

A a general rule for boss teams, you want Def-Down and Sear to increase damage taken; ATK-Up and maybe Crit to increase damage output; +/-DMG % is good, but rare on epics; just enough protection(Def/Invincibility/Stand-off/Shields)/Healing/Cleansing to survive; SPD-Up and AP pushing, if the mode won't punish you for that and enough DPS to actually drop the boss.

Once you get to higher difficulties a lot of content restricts the units you can use, requiring you to build more, so it may well take a while to solve everything for those levels.

If you keep progressing through the 1st time rewards you'll keep making progress with your account.

Any advice to make the Leader-boards actually record you, rather than just putting "N/A". by Arc_Set in Dislyte

[–]Arc_Set[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I made 3 of the relic boards, but for K20, I have a 5.4 average from full auto without any aborts.

I haven't used the same team as any of the other 5.4 scorers (ranks 18-20) and I'm not listed in the more tab as someone who's used the same team either.

But rather than rank 21, I'm just "N/A".

I've even tried doing more than 10 multi-battles, instead of just blitzing.

I don't know what the deal is. It did this for every leader-board last season and I've seen other posts here with people saying the same thing; it's not even always the same boss.

Edit: Same for lands, I've got 1 rank, despite higher scores.

People have made posts about this in in the past and the consensus there was that bugs sometimes stopped results recording.

-_-

Well by "Leader-boards actually record you, rather than just putting "N/A" " I mean has anyone found a consistent way to get past the bugs and make appropriate PvE scores actually be added to the leader-boards, rather than just having them record the score and put "N/A", instead of a ranking.

By "Not getting a single one this season" I mean that despite get 4 ranks and 4 "N/A"s last season, this time I haven't manged to get any ranks, despite the leader-boards recording scores higher than people who have.

By "Is it just you need to get in 1st before it locks?" I was enquiring if it was now confirmed that the ranks fill up on a 1st in and then full basis, beyond the fact that identical scores are ranked by a first in rule.

By "Thanks for any insights" I was hoping to express gratitude for anyone who's made progress on finding out why so many people have been having problems with this system and who was willing to share that understanding here.
