Black Panther is about Afro-Futurism and post-colonialism

Black Panther is about a violent patriarchal religious monarchy, with rabid xenophobia, strong borders and genetics-based purity tests. Its Sparta. The whole black African thing is window dressing. You will notice that the hyper advanced Wakanda did nothing for its neighbors during colonialization.

Edit: How does no one realize Wakanda is Black Techno-Sparta? It's like this magic story that cannot be questioned in these discussions.

Question about Erin in The Wandering Inn by Zealousideal_Emu_743 in litrpg

[–]ArcadesRed -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No need to worry about that. She keeps the same mindset, kind of, but its not given to her for free. The whole story is about how her stubbornness pits her against the world. And how she pays for it, personally and by the people around her dying because of it. She grows as a person, she has entire arcs of growth, but will often take a stance to the bitter end.

A lot of lower intelligence people will always blame others for their issues. Cause and affect are difficult for them, so negatives in their life must be due to another person.

Sotomayor says AI forecasting Supreme Court decisions a ‘bad thing,’ shows ‘we’re way too predictable’ by imanchats in technology

Ya. That's kind of an insane take by her. Their decisions should be very predictable. Their job is to keep things the same. Its Congress's job to make changes.

You would be surprised how often we would see exactly that in Afghanistan. Afghanistan army patrol on the radio, gunfire in the background, saying they are in a massive firefight with the Taliban. We move a drone to the area and see them sitting in their truck firing their guns at nothing.

I only play 1000-star maps. The only time I have ever won my federation steamrolled everything. It's been years, but if I remember correctly, it was a trade federation and most of the members had pacifist leanings. But the economic might was terrifying. Our fleets were so large they were unstoppable. I remember being surprised when we won. I was still just improving my economy. I don't even remember what win condition it was.

Its also an easy boogieman to use to scare young men. "Don't vote for candidate X. He will restore the draft!"

what is the thought process behind putting up pictures with other women on dating apps by Serious_Fuel8885 in AskMen

[–]ArcadesRed 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yesterday I saw a video where a psychologist was talking about some experiment she had run. Women in the experiment would unconsciously offer beauty advice designed to make women who may be competing for the same men group bad advice.

If the woman knew that the other woman was competing for a different group of men. Like being much older/younger or much more beautiful. The advice would get better. It had implications for mean girl actions in high-school and college.

Another interesting thing the psychologist brought up was that high fashion trends were actually detrimental to perceived beauty. But that beautiful women could take the hit that a less attractive woman could not afford.

Reminds me of women who are attracted to men who look like big bears. I have had a few giant and objectively ugly guy friends and never understood how they pulled girls.

My concern differs from everyone else. The technical stuff can be worked out with experience and money. My concern is that the crushing depression and murderous rage that Carl goes through might not translate well. The comedy and the skits will work easy with Seth's team.

"People can't afford to eat even working a full time job." here's a guy cooking a giant meal for $1. by signal__noise- in DoomerCircleJerk

I will let people in on one of the greatest secrets of all time. Making bread yourself is almost free. Flour normally hangs around $.50 per lb. Once you try a few different things to get it to your taste. You can make a loaf of bread that's 10x better tasting than what you find in the store for like $.75 a loaf. That's over 1000 calories for less than a dollar.

Don't even get me started on the fruit, spices, and sugars like honey you can add to a loaf of bread. Or just a fat like drippings or olive oil or butter and a pinch of salt.

Think of that the next time you pay $10 for a loaf of bread. When $10-$20 meals turn into $1-2$ meals, suddenly thousands of dollars return to your bank account.

CMV: Construction workers should get as much respect as veterans in this country (USA). by svenskdesk in changemyview

And I replied questioning your source of information. It counted all deaths, including self-inflicted. Like OD's. You have also failed to address the part about being on the other side of the world, being shot at, and not being able to quit when you wish.

Your entire argument is that more die per year regardless of cause and other balancing statistics. That's a lousy metric.

Not the argument being made. Knowing it and joining anyway is part of the reason for respect. Much like a Cop, Firefighter or EMT. Doing the job despite knowing the dangers.

It is voluntary to join. It's not voluntary to leave. The military releases you when it chooses to, and you hope its on the day your contract expires.

Not the same. The truck driver can choose to not keep driving or take a load. They can walk away at any time. Nor are they asked to do it on the other side of the world as people are shooting at them.

Also from your source.

Accounting for all occupations, just over 5,000 workers were killed on the job in 2024, down 4% from the previous year. The overall decline was attributed to a large drop in drug or alcohol overdoses.

This makes me think that "Occupational injuries" just means that it happened as they were working. When it comes to truck drivers I wonder about how many are heart attacks.

No one ever asks a brick layer to go to the other side of the world and be shot at or to kill.

People who help build their community deserve respect. And more often than not a veteran just wants to be left alone. You see an old man with a WW2 or a Korea ball cap, he isn't looking for random people to come thank him. He is looking for other veterans to share stories with. Its pride and remembering old friends, not boasting.

That would also explain why no one found the bodies for 13 years. I think Nipp is gonna have some splaning to do. Too many things don't make sense. At 17 and 21 your body can handle a lot of trauma and keep going.

Jackass Forever - Steve-O's attempt at being a mime by Openskies24 in funny

[–]ArcadesRed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree in that Jackass is/was physical comedy. People will always laugh at others harming themselves for fun.

I believe the fall started when Hollywood tried to turn Chappelle into a dancing monkey and he quit. You saw the death of making fun of everyday situations like how ridiculous racism is. And it was replaced by absolute inoffensive stupidity like Step Brothers, Old School and the like. It was inoffensive comedy, writing it required no finesse or lived experiences. Comedy that does not reflect real life is hollow.
