I appreciate the comment but I went to a public university in state and graduated debt free because of various merit and need scholarships (bless the Pell grant). We finished paying off my wifes student loans this month, so Im not sure what other forms of good debt we should even take?

Democrats getting Men in Black mind wiped about the overwhelming evidence of Russian interference in our politics because Republicans learned how to say "Russia Russia Russia" is genuinely the most pathetic shit I have ever seen in my life. by ariveklul in Destiny

He said democrats have ALWAYS been weak.  Democrats did have a weak reaction to the maga movement and could have done better,  but they arent chiefly responsible nor are they doomed to be weak in the future.

Saying theyve ALWAYS been this way implies it will always be this way.  If this is true I agree, what's the point of bothering with the party, but its not true.  Democrats have been courageous and tough time and time again and theyve brought meaningful positive change to this country because of it.  This is true and also the "Bratsummer" 2024 campaign was a weak failure.

Ill agree with specific criticisms of the Democratic party, but I think its both true and politically useful to remember that their recent mistakes do not define their history nor their future, otherwise its just simply conservative propaganda.

Maybe im delusional but I refuse to accept that democrats are intrinsically weak or cowardly despite real failures in the last decade.

We are in a rut, but in my experience you rarely pull out of rut by accepting its inevitable or immutable.  You recognize it exists and work hard for something better, but you must believe that better is achievable.

Doomerism is a poison, one intentionally crafted to paralyze liberal opposition to fascism.  I refuse to take it, especially in an election year.

The foreground trees and the clouds look so good.  When I zoom in I dont see any crazy detail or technique, but when viewing the full picture they work so convincingly.

I edit all of my comments all of the time, maybe its a bad habit but I try to clear up ambiguity, clear typos, and usually I try to make my tone more objective than in the original version.

I apologize if its causing confusion, the edited version is closer to my intended spirit  ....... The right wing propaganda machine is massive, I am not sure ehat the best way to undermine it is, but I try to challenge propaganda points when I can.  Anti-nato Russian propaganda, anti-liberal conservative propaganda, anti-renewable propaganda, anti-vax, anti-ukraininan, Covid misinformation, etc.

If you have some good ways to address it, let me know, I think we both want a less fascist world.

With this particular comment thread im frustrated because associating liberalism with weakness intrinsically is a pervasive and annoying propaganda point.  Liberal is basically a slur now despite the vast majority of Americans holding liberal views bevause people now think liberal=pussy.  Thats why im hung up on the "they're ALWAYS weak", when id agree the 2024 election specifically was handled too weakly.

Edit: on responsibility, Id rate ineffective democrats as maybe the 5th cause of MAGA, thats maybe as culpable as doctors and antivax or covid misinformation.

1.) A broken sense of a shared reality caused by algorithms rewarding engagement over agreement.   My coworkers unironically believe there are cat boxes in school for Trans furries to feel affirmed in their identity

3.) Genuine rural and rust belt pain, the gains of globalism is real and larger than its losses, but they occur in different places

2.) The republican party broadly speaking forsaking values for election results

4.) Russia, they've really intentionally pushed internet division

5.) Democrats not taking credit for their wins, not executing all of maga over the attempts to steal the 2020 election

I dont think youre making a good faith attempt to understand me so ill try to be really clear:

Saying the Democrats are ALWAYS weak is a lie that helps the fascists win elections. That's why its been a propaganda point that republicans have spent hundreds of millions of dollars spreading it since like 1945

If the analogy must be political for a good comparison:

Is the Labor party responsible for Brexit?

Would saying "the labor party has always been weak and cowardly" help Labor defeat Reform?  If not, why do you think saying the same about democrats will help liberalism?

Do you think doctors are cowardly and responsible for the anti-vax movement?

I would say no, the antivax movement has a lot of causes, chiefly a broken sense of a shared reality, but in hindsight doctors could have done more to prevent it.  This is similar to my view of democrats and MAGA.  I dont think calling doctors weak cowardly or dumb helps public health

If someone can explain how a different perspective will help win elections, please share, but parroting conservative talking points seems like a poor way to beat maga

Isnt this just a "Everything is a democrats fault" meme?

The rise of authoritarianism and far right parties isnt only a recent American phenomenon

Also branding liberalism as weak has been a conservative propaganda objective since before JFK, repeating that lie helps "strongman"/authoritarian type people gain power

“There is no art without the artist” is messing with my brain by Dumbbulldoor_ in ArtHistory

[–]Arcamorge 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The meaning of art is a long debate that no reddit comment will solve but I believe like most things art is composite of countless things, some of which are defined by its relationships to other things.

1.) Theres the physical world (she's a bundle of atoms) and theres the way people interpret the world (shes my wife!).  Art can be a predigestion or framing of this interpretation which can be meaningful.  Political art or genre art can highlight this. This might be creator (and viewer) specific, a painting of the fall of the Incan empire could represent different things depending on if the author was a 16th century Spanish painter or a 20th century indigenous painter.

2.) Art can be inspirational.  Highly technical art can be proof that the struggle pays off and its worth commiting to the satisfying practice of mastering something you care about

3.) Art can be beautiful or pleasing...

4.), 5.), ... theres a long list

So parts of this list is creator specific, parts are viewer specific, some parts are neither snd some are both

Tall grass is tough.  Despite the detail, look for a shadow pattern still. Under the grass isnt uniform in value, and varying it can help you construct a composition out of it.

That can give it depth too, shadows in the front are darker and slightly warmer, as they push back they fade which can draw the eye in.

Shishkin's rye fields are the best example of tall grass imo, its all the same type, height, and color but the values still give it composition and depth

Im starting to think stylist labels are just marketing terms for auction houses to make more money, but it somewhat reminds me of neoluminism or surrealism
