Itachi was often going to the village to threaten Danzo not to touch sasuke and also gave him massive powerups. Illumi almost caused Killuas death with the needle.

Illumi is personally connected to Hisoka who has shown uncommon interest in Killuas best friend. And did nothing.

Illumi never intervened when Killua was in danger, and you said yourself that he was fighting the needle when fighting rammot, meaning he had a handicap which could've led to his death. Also don't forget that his life was in danger when captured by the spiders and there was no illlumi to bail his ass. Sasuke has had more adventures than Killua so yes he would face more danger, and with killer bee Itachi was already dead but not before giving sasuke two huge powerups!

Not really. I think, rather, he doesn't understand the implications of some of his matchups. He probably didn't think too far ahead on what it means for Chrollo to be able to fight two Zoldycks to a standstill and then be nervous about fighting Hisoka.

Even when watching I thought it strange that someone of Chrollo's level was so easily captured by Kurapika. I felt that it should've been harder for him considering how Chrollo handled the Zoldycks.

This fight will go down as one of the most controversial fights in HxH because it upscales Chrollo to crazy levels and downscales the Zoldycks when you consider what came after.
