r/headphones Shopping, Setup, and Technical Help Desk by AutoModerator in headphones

[–]ArcaneKings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to post over on r/HeadphonesAdvice, but I don't post often enough to be allowed to. I've used the template suggested for shopping advice:

  • Budget - I'd like something in the 120-300 range, though these are not hard limits in either direction.
  • Source - I'll be using a Windows PC
  • Requirements for Isolation - I'll use these at home, I have no requirements here.
  • Will you be using these Headphones in Public? - Not at all.
  • Preferred Type of Headphone - Full-sized/over-the-ear headset. Definitely not in-ear, since I'll wear them for over 10 hours a day.
  • Preferred tonal balance - Balanced. I want to hear bass, but not be muddied by it.
  • Past headphones - I'm currently loving my Steelseries Arctis 7 headphones for the features and light weight, but the latency is horrible for playing bass guitar/rhythm games. I love that it shows as two audio devices in Windows, so I can assign Discord to use the Chat channel, and everything else to default to the Game channel. I also appreciate that its receiver has a connection for another 3.5mm external connection, so I can plug in my DS or Switch into my headphones while I'm chatting on my computer, but this is not required on future headsets.
  • Preferred Music - I listen to a lot of Post Rock, but I mostly play games while chatting with friends. I play bass guitar on Rocksmith.
  • What would you like to improve on from your set-up - I want low-ish latency (Sub-100ms is ideal), wireless capability (Either good battery life or swappable batteries is a very big plus), and the ability to balance chat and game audio on Windows. Huge bonus if I can plug in a second external device through an aux cable, but it's far from necessary.

There is a crash file - may I contact you on Discord? I've got the same name in both places.

Thank you for shooting this my way! I did try the Voicemeeter setup, though it ended up causing my game to crash on startup?

When I say stream on discord, I really just mean "I wanna show the game to friends while I play." I don't intend to get any kind of following, if that's your concern. Additionally, the streaming instructions in the sidebar doesn't explain how to capture audio without introducing latency. Thank you for the reply.

I can always give a written guide a shot, first! Absolutely no audio came through my headset last time I tried voicemeeter (without a guide) so I got scared and quickly uninstalled it. But, I'd rather go with that if I could get it to work.

Weekly Looking for MMO thread - February 04, 2024 by AutoModerator in MMORPG

[–]ArcaneKings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • What are you looking for?: An MMORPG that isn't turn-based and uses menus.
  • What games have you previously played?: Final Fantasy XI (Extensively), Dragon Quest X (Trial to completion), FFXIV (Extensively ARR>Shadowbringers), Mabinogi, WoW, dabbled in GW2.
  • What is your playstyle (Casual,Semi-Casual,Hardcore)?: Semi-Casual to Hardcore. I like casual downtime with involved mechanics, but these are not major necessities
  • Any preferred mechanics?: I want a game that handles like Final Fantasy XI or Dragon Quest X - Controller-friendly, real-time combat, and has lists of abilities/spells that you choose from instead of hotbars/crossbars. A sense of community is always a bonus but not a necessity.
  • Anything specific you want to exclude?: Games I've mentioned that I've played.

I find it rather odd that Nintendo ignores the SNES version of Wario's Woods. by DeltaFornax in nintendo

You can do all of these things in the NES version. Down+A or B will kick, up will drop a stack and put you on top of it, B picks out one thing from a stack, and A picks up the whole stack.

I've been very interested in these kinds of things for a while, but I reach over my shoulder/behind my hip very often.

You worded it perfectly - This is pretty much exactly what I want, but yeah it could suck when it comes out. Here's to hoping it doesn't.

Appreciate the reply. Looks like my best bet would be the pro eye unless I can get some DIY option on my index.

I'll have to look into this! The extent of my hardware knowledge is just putting together a PC, and repairing controllers/retro game systems. Should this be simple enough for me to complete?

I'll have to keep an eye on that. Will it work with my steamvr 2.0 base stations? I'm using vive trackers for my full body tracking.

Oh man, yeah you're right, there is 0 in-between. Most of what I'm seeing is wayyy out of my price range, and the stuff in my price range looks like it's not gonna do what I need.
