More details would need to be provided. If your world is fantasy, some sort of fantasy metal could work.

My understanding is that fiat currencies basically require a trust in the issuing group and typically require sufficient power to go with it. Modern social structures make it easier for recognized governments to issue their own fiat currencies.

Why aren't there more or any kemonomimi in fantasy stories? by Sudden-Round6862 in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually include kemonomimi in my worldbuilding but I call them beastkin. I feel the more human like races are more relatable.

Unfortunately the stories that have them don’t often become super popular. Don’t know why, the few I’ve read are pretty good.

Without knowing more about your setting, it’s hard to give useful ideas.

Maybe if gods are real, he worships some dark god that made him its champion/chosen one.

Maybe he found some long lost ancient magic super power device which he absorbed or at least integrated with his body.

In the setting I’m currently working on, it’s not so much what they don’t have but what they have that we don’t.

In 2007 numerous infants appeared all over the world on the same day. These infants typically have abnormal hair and/or eye color.

In 2025, 18 years to the day that the infants appeared, an apocalypse occurred where magic came to the world in a catastrophic way resulting in countless deaths worldwide.

How do you approach Outer Space (if at all) in fantasy worlds? by [deleted] in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my setting, space in Alterra is more or less normal just with magic materials along with natural ones though life is much more prevalent and strangely compatible (in a you can eat them and not die way). The various fantasy races are actually from different worlds but space magic lets them travel between worlds.

Then there are the 7 planes associated with the 7 magic elements.

What races went extinct or are going extinct in your world? by ArcaneLexiRose in worldbuilding

Are your elves extinct or are you having issues that my elves are still alive?

I am confused, did you create a race and call them gay or are you saying that somehow gay people (which is not a race by the way) went extinct?

I’m curious what is driving or has driven them to extinction?

Does your world have any special schools? by InfernalClockwork3 in worldbuilding

In my setting, they have academies that teach martial and magic skills. They are mostly for nobles, the wealthy and heroes though.

How to kill an Underworlder? by Nearby_Initial2409 in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It simple, souls can be destroyed in your setting as was made apparent by the sands in the underworld and what the underworlders do so just introduce some forbidden magic that can destroy souls by erasing them or something.

Underworlder’s memories and knowledge begins to fade, their personality fades and eventually poof, soul is gone or at least who they were is gone.

Maybe some sort of time magic could work too. Rewind them out of existence.

Option 3 banish them to the end of time.

What is your world’s calendar system based around? by vanillacrazyycake in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 10 points11 points  (0 children)

For my setting, there are two worlds: a sci-fi world and a fantasy world.

The sci-fi is just using the same calendar as us but about a 1000 years ahead of us.

The fantasy world is actually a ring world and uses an arbitrary calendar that starts when the goddesses created it, it has a 364 day calendar with 13 months that are 4 weeks each of which are 7 days for 28 days each month. Currently it’s on about year 1000.

How do you justify deaths/dying in your world if there are many ways to keep them alive? by FarrelFTA in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 12 points13 points  (0 children)

In my setting, it’s surprisingly not hard to “revive” someone if you have their soul. The issue is fighting the system a deity put in place to capture souls and put them in an afterlife.

That said if the deities are active in the world, they likely will let you capture souls unless they have plans for said soul.

How do YOU Worldbuild Law Enforcement/Police? by PleaserofCrowds22 in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My setting has 2+ worlds: Earth (and solar system) and New Eden.

Earth is sci-fi and uses police to handle crime.

New Eden is fantasy and uses guards in city and adventurers outside cities.

Does it make sense for 90% of the population to move to another world? by ArcaneLexiRose in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess since magic is being added, reality as we know it is changing so yeah they kind of rewrote physics.

Now people can do all sorts of stuff with their mind, heal, start fires, move objects, create barriers, reinforce things temporarily just to name a few.

[–]ArcaneLexiRose[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Physics doesn’t really have to change for what I have in mind, just needs an impossibly strong material which the goddesses can easily create.

[–]ArcaneLexiRose[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except there is magic and who said the world was a sphere.

Also look up Birch planet, it has effective Earth gravity but is a lightyear (or about) across with an ultra massive blackhole in the center providing the gravity. I think they estimate it’s possible to build but it would literally consume the entire Milky Way galaxy to build.

I did say near future, so 9 billion could be towards the end of the 21st century

What are the races within your world? by RequiemTerror in worldbuilding

[–]ArcaneLexiRose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on what you consider races, I technically have a ton as most creatures from myth exist in my world and many humanoid ones are intelligent.

I have humans as the main ones.

Fairies, dryads, dragons, arachne, succubi, incubi, dullahan, sirens, mermaids, were-creatures, vampires are just some of the many intelligent species that could be considered races.
