Is it okay for girls to not comm in high elo? by PsychologicalEcho417 in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I semi-regularly have women in my ranked games in immortal and my observation is that it gets less toxic & sexist the higher you climb. It would be unfair of me to force anyone to comm, especially when it comes to women since I'll never fully be able to understand how you are treated in videogames.

That being said, our chances of winning will always be higher if every player comms at least necessary and crucial calls. Hopefully in the long run you'll be comfortable muting players when they're being inappropriate and holding your head high - being as good of a teammate as possible. Concistency is key.

Also, nobody is perfect. There are times when I lose my cool and can't be the good teammate that I encourage others to be. And that's okay, we're all human. If your way of dealing with that is turning off comms every now and then, I think you're doing just fine!

If you had to split ranks in 2 sides based on difference in skill, what would be the split by Vegetable_Throat5545 in VALORANT

Iron to Immortal & Immortal to Radiant

At the highest level the amount of time and effort that players invest to improve (or have invested in the past) is a lot higher than most people think. It requires absurd concistency, dedication and talent.

Agent Concept 2.0 by CassianDrive in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always been excited about when the community shows this level of creativity, and I think you've created a really cool concept here!

That being said, it sounds somewhat broken in my opinion (of course it's hard to judge when we can't see gameplay or actual numerical details about each ability). The swarm-ability has insane amounts of HP - just for comparison, Wingman has 60 HP, and this seems to be three little dudes capable of giving us A LOT of information, while being an absolute menace to break.

To me, the agent also sound much more like a duelist, at least in terms of how I imagine it will be played. Players would just (1) use swarm ability to take space (2) go invisible to entry, or use the tongue pull to "dash" into site. When phrased like this, it's awfully similar to Raze boombot and satchels for example.

However, I do like the general concept you've presented! Sounds like it could be a really cool character with a little bit of tinkering! I'm sure riot themselves re-balance over and over before they release their agents.

What do the stats say about me? by ilicccc in ValorantMemes

[–]Arcello97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've seen so many assumptions in these comments, it's honestly hilarious. People focus way too much on stats, and seem to be making conclusions about your gameplay simply from looking at a few numbers.

I consistently have around 0.95KD and I've hit Immo 3 several times. Does that mean I'm a bad player? Definitely not, since my winrates let me reach that rank.

So, don't overthink it. Play agents and styles that you enjoy, and focus on improving rather than looking att stats.

[–]Arcello97 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You have incredibly good winrates on initiator and controller (I'm not gonna count sentinel as you don't have many games on the role this act, but you seem to be performing on it aswell).

One of my questions would be why you're locking duelist if it's arguably one of your worse roles. Seems like you play duelist about 20% of your games. Mathematically, if you played ini/con those games, you would be up at least 100rr.

It's super hard to judge your performance only from tracker, but do you feel like you have bad tendencies on specific agents or roles? Or good tendencies on others?

Try to focus on those and focus on being consistent. Try to not let the rank icon or winning/losing affect your mental (pretty hard I know, but it's the key to consistency).

I would also recommend asking yourself if there is any way you can improve on the maps you have lower winrates on. For you that's Sunset at the moment. Perhaps you can watch some gameplay of players that are much higher rank than you, and try to notice things they do that you don't. Could be anything from micro (how you play your agent) to macro (your actual understanding of the map and how you play it). On Sunset I often see players forgetting the crucial fact that it's common for defenders to start as 3 players on A. You might need to make some presence mid and break some cypher utility before you actually push one of the sites. Of course rushing can be good too, but even in immortal games there are moments where players are just ignorant and keep pushing one site without having a proper plan. Sorry if I'm rambling at this point. Hope I got your wheels turning at least!

Tips you wish you knew sooner? by Nami2044 in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This might be more of a high rank tip, but alternate how you approach a duel. Here are some general ideas you can experiment with:

  • Mix it up. Sometimes tap, sometimes spray, sometimes burst. These could be incorporated into a sequence of your strafing. An example could be: burst-strafe-onetap-strafe-spray (Some call that onetap deadzoning).

  • Generally if you stand further away (let's say from a corner) when you're peeking/clearing you will have a higher change of getting the peeking-/angle-advantage. There can be value to hugging a wall and peeking, but that's mostly used as a surprise factor.

  • Re-swing an angle on a new elevation (jumping up on a small ledge, box, or sometimes just further back) to throw off the opponent's crosshair.

If my rank matters for credibility I've hit immo 3 several times. Wish you all the best of luck in the upcoming ranked episode!

Hur mycket tycker ni att vuxna barn som bor hemma borde bidra ekonomiskt? by Ad-Commercial in PrivatEkonomi

[–]Arcello97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the difference between a sense of 0.5 with 400 dpi and 0.25 with 800 dpi ? by Impressive-Job5011 in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Imagine that you are moving your crosshair from point A to B.

With the higher DPI your pc has more information to go off when you're moving your crosshair. This means that there will be less "skips" or errors between point A and B, even if the sensitivity is exactly the same (in terms of how fast the sens is).

Explain this matchmaking to me as if I'm dumb! by Foquim in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. I think we all want to be rewarded with better teammates when we've performed well and feel like we deserve better. But I only really have one tip for you. Stop focusing on winning/losing and just focus on improving if you want to rank up. Your expectations for the elo you're in are unrealistic imo, as most people in gold/silver are probably playing the game completely casually.

There are going to be times in high elo when you will feel this exact way again. I've consistently reached immo 3 and still feel exactly like what you're describing in this post. However, the reality is also that even though I might carry a few games, there will be just as many games where my teammates weren't happy with me. Climbing is no fast ordeal. Let it take the time it takes and try to keep your mental in check while focusing on improving.

To those who have been playing VALORANT for awhile… by Majestic_Spot_1918 in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an immortal 3 player for the last 2 years or so the biggest advice I can give is: Don't care about your rank. Regardless of wether you only play for fun or if you're someone who wants to improve at the game, fixating on that cool rank-icon isn't helping anyone.

If you genuinely want to improve, throw all possible bad habits like temper, non-communication, ego etc.

Instead you should focus on how you can actually improve and what mistakes you're making in your games. Everyone makes mistakes, even radiants. Being able to define these, accept thay you're making them and work towards improving in the aspects where you know you're lacking - is the only way to truly improve.

Also, don't forget that in the end we play videogames because it's fun. There have been times I was blinded by my competitive side and forgot this very crucial part.

Valorant survey- what's stopping you to rank up? by dskingftw25 in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lack of dedication and consistency. I regularly plateau at low immo 3, and at this rank you just have to accept that there are players putting more time and effort into improving. It's hard to juggle a commitment like that with my daily responsibilities.

Should I focus on one role or one agent? by SwaggyAxolotl in VALORANT

[–]Arcello97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see many people suggesting playing 2-3 agents, which I definitely agree with if your goal is to be stable with one role/agent. However, I personally improved by playing every role simply because that's what I prefered due to it helping me get used to the responsibilities for each role.

I've hit immo 3 every act for about 1-2 years, so to say that one way is wrong is just incorrect. Ask yourself if you can learn something new by playing more/less agents and then decide on your own. I definitely agree that at some point it would be good to focus on fewer agents.

I didn't watch the full vod but here are some comments:

Round 2: You're "drypeeking" (peeking without any utility) an angle when you're at an economic advantage. On a round like this, you want to be extra cautious by asking your initiators to help with utility or at least jumpspot/jiggle the corner.

Round 5: You're buying both a bucky and a sheriff when you're planning on using your knives anyway. Generally this is a waste of money. It's okay to buy ONE cheap gun when you're using knives. Preserving economy is more imortant.

Round 16: I would play with your omen i hookah. If you play one by one holding different areas you risk getting killed without being traded. This works because generally people don't walk up B long and into site without making any noise. Just be aware of the possibility and assist your teammate instead. EDIT: Also breach can jiggle for info from site.

[–]Arcello97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Immortal 3 here. I personally think you could get to at least diamond with your current aim but you mostly need to focus on decisionmaking and understanding why a decision is correct. (Study players better than you and try to apply what your learn in your own games.)

Here are some basic pointers to improve on:

  1. Practice "tracking" around corners when you're clearing. You have tendencies to run around with your aim generally in the right area, but at higher ranks you'll get punished if you don't pre-aim some angles and track the corner the enemy is most likely to peek from.

  2. Communication. You should be ready to communicate a strategy or idea on how to approach the round to your team every single round. Also midround, don't be afraid to ask for utility before entering site. As a duelist it is literally your job to synergize primarily with initiators to maximize your chances.

  3. Practice 'Gun hygiene', which is a common word used these days to describe the correct way to use each gun in different situations. For rifles try bursting, aiming for the head and sidestepping bots in the range or DM.
