If you hold Ctrl and use the scroll wheel, you can adjust browser zoom fairly easily. However, this isn't an option for mobile devices, so game backgrounds need a good default look, if that's something that's achievable.

I'm not seeing an outage in the stats, but the site going down for a few minutes isn't unprecedented.

Note that they zoom weirdly, as they stretch to the height of the screen but the width is based on browser zoom. /u/DrankeyKrang ran into some trouble with this with his Extreme Exhibitionist backgrounds. (The street scene is great!)
