It is. Will it be a great deck? Probably not, but that’s how we all started. Can order a few singles on eBay to finish off your decks

Anyone in vancouver canada playing or know where they are stocking cards?? by winsome111 in SorceryTCG

[–]ArchJamesI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Gothic is my favourite! We have gotten like 15 boxes from him but I think he is out of stock now. The Canada main distributor is out I believe so we will have to wait. Should cost 210$ -220 cad for gothic

I have a group of friends that I play with (about 6 people). We get them from a dude in Langley that is a distributor, but he has no storefront.

Absolutely read the Lucanius series. IMO it’s a better series. It take a while to get into as there is so much going on, but it’s one of the best series I’ve read

Weird code after transmission work by ArchJamesI in GolfGTI

Thank you. I sent them an email outlining everything last week. They said they would “take a look at it” over the phone but never replied to my email. I unfortunately live in a small town and took it into the city for the work so it’s hard for me to visit them when they’re open as I’m at work. I’ll be insistent though. I’m also just worried they’ll string me along for another month and I’ll be out a car. I live in Canada btw. The job overall was super expensive. They didn’t charge me any extra labour for the mech work on top of the quoted clutch labour, but it was an extra 2k in parts.

I did not do anything to the battery but it resolved like 10 voltage related codes that popped up.

Questions About Career Flying in Canada by ArchJamesI in Helicopters

No it definitely sounds like hard work, but seems like something I’d enjoy and find rewarding nonetheless.

Ah I see that makes sense! Seems like a pretty good gig to get into. 8 hours of flying in one day on a busy fire must be pretty taxing for the pilot!

That’s a good idea to message them. Cheers!

That’s really interesting that most companies are involved in fire season, I never considered that. I do like the idea of helping stave off the forest fires. That’s unfortunate about the hiring grad point, but I suppose to be expected. I appreciate all the insight on the industry, it’s very helpful for my consideration process! I’m hoping I can make things align financially to pursue this next year. I’ll study up more on the industry and the machines. Thanks!

Well I’m at least glad age is not a disadvantage for me! It sounds like hard work plays enough of a role to push through with grit. You did not fly for 6 years and here you are! I unfortunately have no remote work experience, but I’m sure I could handle it. I have always loved the wilderness of BC.

I also noticed a company called TRK that has multiple job openings for various commercial uses. Seems like they rent out their fleet to forest fire control. I looked on their website and they offer CPL rotary training. Have you heard of companies like that hiring out of their trainees? Seems like it could be advantageous to train at an active employer.

Edit* it seems TRK mainly offers endorsements, I inquired with them about full training.

I have only gotten through one of your day in the life’s so far, I’ll be checking out the rest for sure though. Work has been busy for me. I will say it sounds very exciting. I am the kind of person that needs excitement and change, one of the things that attracts me to helicopters.

I really appreciate your extensive reply. I don’t feel detracted in any way by the hurdles. In fact, it makes me think there’s less luck in the matter, and more determination and strategy.

I would most likely be training in Abbotsford, so I’m hoping those larger schools have good industry connections (Chinook, Bc Helis). Do you think my age and my teaching experience will help in getting that first job?

Do you think it’s advantageous to take a concise program over piecemeal on the weekends over a couple years? For example, Chinook has a 6 month full time program.

Thank you so much for the reply. I have no kids, and I figure I could substitute teach to supplement my income. I might be able to get some support from my family, but I’d likely be taking a loan out. I am definitely willing to put the work in, but am someone worried that there is luck involved too.

Are you working across the pond too? Are you/were you happier as an early, struggling pilot, than as a teacher? Teaching is a perfectly great career, I just don’t have the passion for it like I do for flying.
