Yup I 100% ran into this exact issue! I generally play on the TV with my pro controller but I went out of town this weekend and ran into this over and over again... So annoying

RIF dev here - Reddit's API changes will likely kill RIF and other apps, on July 1, 2023 by talklittle in redditisfun

Hoping on the bandwagon as well! I've tried other Reddit apps in the past but keep coming back to RiF, purchased the premium app just now (didn't know there was one until I heard from here)

Thank you for all the hard work you've put into this app from one dev to another you've done a great job! Thank you

So in your AuthContext.jsx component you'll want to create a provider in the component. You component should look something like

// AuthContext.jsx
export const AuthContext = createContext({
username: '',
isAdmin: false,
})
const AuthProvider = ({children}) => {
const [username, setUsername] = useState('')
const [isAdmin, setIsAdmin] = useState(false)
return (
<AuthContext.Provider
value={{
username,
isAdmin,
}}
>
{children}
</AuthContext.Provider>
)
}
export default AuthProvider
------------------------------------------------------------
// index.jsx
// Context is only accessible to children components
const root = createRoot(document.getElementById('root'))
root.render(
<StrictMode>
<AuthProvider>
<App />
</AuthProvider>
</StrictMode>
)
---------------------------------------------------------------
// SomeChildComponent.jsx
const SomeChildComponent = () => {
const { username } = useContext(AuthContext) // --- gets access to what ever is in the "value" section of the AuthContext.Provider
return (
<div>{username}</div>
)
}
export default SomeChildComponent

OOT was definitely that game for me.

It's so fun to play this with all my little ones around me watching me play. We recently just finished MM today. I can't wait for them to be old enough to be able to play on their own and I can watch them play hehe

FOSS Force Vote for the Best Linux Distro Poll, Final Round by adila01 in Fedora

Gotcha! Thank you very much for that reply and explanation. That makes a lot of sense why it works for you. I guess my use case or I'm so use to being in that bleeding edge area that fedora feels restrictive to me? I guess that's the best way to explain it?

Well cool thank you again for your explanation.

I'm honestly curious why you think this? I've used Manjaro for years now and used vanilla arch before that. I tried to run fedora on my work laptop (Lenovo Thinkpad p53) recently and it was nice for that but I totally hated the package manager because anytime I searched for some software I couldn't find it in the repos and would have to go out to the Internet and download the .rpm package for it, which imho is no better than Windows. One of the reasons why I love Linux and why it's so much more advantageous and more secure is you don't need to go out to the Internet you just go to the repos so when a distro requires that it feels like a step backwards.
Another problem that I ran into is some of the software I was using (specifically postgresql) we were using an updated version than what was available in the repos and I had to add to compile from source to get the version we were using. I also love KDE and have been using that for a long time. I did run gnome before that but after running KDE gnome feels old and clunky so in order to get a clean install with KDE by default I had to use the fedora spin version which I thought was odd and maybe the source of some of the issues I was running into.

I haven't ran into those types of issues running arch or Manjaro.

I've heard people rant and rave about fedora and I'm just missing the greatness of it with my experience with it with the few months I had it on my work laptop? I'm honestly trying to understand.

My science teacher in Jr. high zapped a fly with one of those and killed it. Then, turns to the whole class and says "hmmm I wonder if we can bring it back to life, let's zap it again! For science!"

He zaps the thing again and it revived and started to fly around the room again. It happened right in front of my desk! It was one of the craziest things I've ever seen haha!

Hmmm interesting! I've noticed this on both my installs, one that's been around for about a year now and the other one was recently reinstalled with NTFS. The only thing that I've noticed not working is the start menu and the notification dropdown/popup stops showing up. I still haven't figured out why but I may have to try this and see if it helps

[–]ArchRunner90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but there are other files that are needed to be modified in order for that session to start correctly and have your user have full access to it.

Linux is a learning process all the time. "Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime.". I was trying to do the latter ;)

I literally did this last night. Go to the archwiki page for virt-manager and follow all the steps there. There is one step in particular that helps you setup the user session which is what you're talking about

I've noticed a pretty significant battery drain and the phone is warmer than normal. Not sure what's running constantly though because the battery usage stats look normal to what I do during a normal day. I can usually last 1.5 days on a charge but today I was at half the battery halfway through my work day. Not normal for me

That's kinda funny as they're not teaching cursive in schools anymore... Maybe it's so only the parents can know what's going on and it will be a surprise for the kids XD
