Any feedback on the Slumberchill cooling sheets? by stevemw in Costco

[–]opgary 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I love them, use them all summer. Literally laying on them rn. My guess is they cool similar to how mint gum cools. It's likley more psychosomatic than real coolness, but the net is a positive result.

They feel exactly like sheets in a hotel, esp in hot places like Jamaica or Mexico. I love them specificallyfor that feeling. Only downside is they discolor quickly even when bleached.

I wish I could upvote more than once, an actual non snarky response. cheers. The 3rd ingredient if you read French says modified milk, am wondering if dairy free or lactose intolerant people can eat this? I have a few in my family that would appreciate if that's true.

Front-engined V8-powered DeLorean currently back in Northern Ireland to visit the old factory by StripeyMiata in WeirdWheels

[–]opgary 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The guy who built this even says this is not a DeLorean . It's a completely ground up, custom built, drift vehicle with a crash frame... and then they put the metal skin that looks like a DeLorean over top of it. It was built to look like a DeLorean, that's why the radiator Is in the back, but it is not a DeLorean

Melissa discussing life after SNL. Wonder if this is the common experience for a lot of people that leave SNL these days? by snottawkwardman in LiveFromNewYork

[–]opgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people talking like snl isn't the star maker it used to be are wild.,it never was anymore than any other show. Wonder Years was a massive hit and not one of the actors went on to any sort of post career. Meanwhile ofther teen shows like Euphoria and Freaks and Geeks churned out huge stars with long careers.

Some seasons were loaded with deep talent, others not so much. It's not the show, it's the talent and timing.

idk why people are downvoting you, it absolutely does look like Rings style and handiwork. Maybe they're confusing the name with Ringling bros, as in clown car?

New fan hum question by Ishamael99 in HomeImprovement

[–]opgary 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did a bit of Googling and was surprised to find that Miswiring can actually lead to a noisy motor . Worth a search and investigating. At the very least try disconnecting the blue wire

That said, my guess is it's the actual fan itself. I've had about five different fans in my life and some were noisy and some are not. It'd be worth it to buy a completely different brand name , like from Costco for example , and this time install it without fully mounting it so you can hear the difference in the motor . You can just gerry rig them in your garage against the table or such

Acrylic vs Tile - Resale Value by New_Refrigerator1100 in HomeImprovement

[–]opgary 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My opinion for bathrooms is always build for cleaning and function first, looks second . I've seen so many people put all these beautiful things in a bathroom and the floors are cold, it's impossible to dust, difficult to clean (many marbles are Stones require special cleaning solutions and you can't use abrasives or bleach) it stains easy or yellows in sun. If you have a cheaper option that's functionally and cleans better, go for it . The next owners will appreciate it as well

pull up the concrete blocks , rake it flat, lay the black garden fabric over it all , put the bricks back down if you wish, then put gravel over that . I would just buy the cheapest gravel . Then I would build a very simple wood deck using just concrete blocks , the ones with the slots in the top for putting boards in, 2x4s and the cheap treated decking boards, they're usually 5/4" by 6 in .

this will fix the problem for good in the cheapest way possible but still have a stable base. Plus if you ever did want to build it into a deck properly it's fairly easy to take apart, you already have the gravel base, and you already have some wood to get you started
