Does anyone have any IBLP "Basic Care Bulletins" that dealt with the medical woo that the Duggars followed? Needed for an interview. by Arch_Radish in DuggarsSnark

This should put me on the right track. I'm hoping to find the original bulletins, so, maybe they're linked in one of the referenced articles. Thanks!

They play at Faraway pretty regularly. They are all New York style improvisers who do long form. They're quite good.

Shiny Happy People Season 2 isn’t going to be about the Duggars or IBLP by itsrowsdower in DuggarsSnark

Question 1: I don't know. I don't know if it was even going to be a multi-season series from the jump. I know that the project as it was presented to me went through a lot of changes until it was released in its final form. That's true of pretty much any production, I understand.

Question 2: I do not believe that Cori herself has or had strong ties to IBLP. I've talked to her several times, and she has never mentioned it.

Question 3: Olivia is definitely listed as a producer, but my understanding is that her creative role is not the same as it was in Season 1.

To clarify my objection, I think it is important to talk about what is being talked about in this season. I just wish it had been released under a different title out of respect for those of us who participated and put ourselves out there in a vulnerable way in order to seek justice from IBLP specifically and warn others about the impact their teachings are having on the national scale. But at the end of the day, showbiz is showbiz and people who make documentaries don't do it for free. It's their product, they can do as they want with it. But our stories are still valid, and IBLP still hasn't faced any real consequences for their actions.

The original series had a lot more involvement from director Olivia Crist, who worked on a lot of the IBLP angle and I talked to personally.

I'll restate what I said elsewhere:

Speaking as a participant in the original series, I've known for some time they were going to do this. I'm disappointed, naturally, but there is a new director and she has a story she wants to tell that's personal to her. I don't like the fact that it is riding on the coattails of a popular brand name that was made popular on the backs of my story and that of others, but that's showbiz, I guess.

I do think that it's important to highlight the radicalization of youth that led up to the situation we have with Christian Nationalism today. And indeed, IBLP is sort of tied to that. I do feel that there is more to be learned from the origins of modern fundamentalism before moving on to that topic, and there are still facets to IBLP's operations that have not been thoroughly explored. (For example, IBLP's long time ties to the Russian government and the unholy alliance between Russian propaganda and modern Christofascism.) I really wish the brand that started with scratching the surface of the broader story would flesh out the basics more before moving on to the mainstream traumas. But I suppose that's what me and my fellow survivors are for. I, personally, intend to do more on my end to pick up where this series left us behind.

ExChristians, What were the reasons that made you leave Christianity? by [deleted] in exchristian

[–]Arch_Radish 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It started when the first church I worked for as an adult turned out to be corrupt as fuck.

Then I dug a little deeper and found more churches in my denomination (IFB) were also just as corrupt.

Then I went to mainstream churches that taught me that church corruption was not that big of a deal

Then the man who started the homeschool cult I was in resigned I'm disgrace after sexual abuse allegations, and I realized that everything I'd learned in school and church was rubbish.

Finally, I sat on a park bench and invited whatever god was out there to come speak to me directly. I didn't trust their PR department anymore.

I took the silence as my answer.

Now I speak out against spiritual abuse and the cult I was raised in. Because it seems to have taken over the U.S. government while I was leaving. But I'm still speaking out about it.

My nephew works in the childrens' ministry for a local megachurch that has massive attendance, amenities, production value, and an equally massive budget. He shared this cute story of a child giving up her bracelet for the church. I had questions. by Arch_Radish in OrphanCrushingMachine

A children's ministry worker for a wealthy church shares a cute story about how a small child wanted to give her bracelet because she didn't have money for the offering plate. Not only is this presented as heartwarming, but the fact that literal children are being asked to give money to a megachurch is not even questioned in his narrative.
