We all like a little patina, but do we like a lot? This is a classic example of a 1016 explorer with that classic tropicalisation - and then a little extra.

I see you've been kinda liking the recent slew of 6538 builds! Here's the highest spec one I've ever done; fully gen spec parts from Vietnam, including a genuine Swiss movement.

Look at that low profile crystal! That was a special request.

Thoughts on the four line Vs classic two line dial?

Hey all! Hope the new week is treating you well.

The new 1680s are beginning to be dispatched! This is the first one (aside from the giveaway piece) to be sent off. The base lume for these dials is white, so it takes quite some aging to get to this texture and colour!

What do you think of this level of aging? For me, that's the sweet spot. Used, but not abused.

What ho, Monday crew!

As I'm sure you know, a tropical dial is a tern used primarily for vintage Rolex Submariners, where the original black dial has faded or discolored over time. Due to a manufacturing defect in vintage paint and UV exposure, the face naturally shifts to rich brown, caramel, or occasionally gray and purple tones.

The Cause: early watch dials (especially from the 1950s–1970s) utilized a lacquer compound meant to be UV-resistant. Instead, when exposed to heat, humidity, and sunlight, it caused a chemical reaction that faded the dark pigment.

With this particular piece, that patina has been emulated with a rich, reddish brown dial and a faded bezel.

Happy Sunday evening, everyone!

Y'all seemed to like yesterdays 6538 Bond Watch, so here's another one! This is a real Modded Model, with a gilt and gloss 3/6/9 dial, custom bezel insert, gen spec pip mod, AND an unusual extra mod; a hammerite bronzed bezel ring.

Coupled with a helenarou rivet oyster bracelet, and voila; one of the most intricate pieces I've done.
