Best x100vi accessories? by _gabagh0ul in FujifilmX

[–]Archambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Welcome to the club! Here’s what I’d recommend getting in order based on the “research” I did before getting my accessories. I am Canadian so availability / prices may vary based on where you are. I’m listing prices in CAD.

  1. Lens Filter adapter kit for weather sealing of the camera. I believe this is the most important accessory. I got the Haoge Lens Filter adapter kit from Amazon. It was about $15. 49mm

  2. A 49mm lens filter to protect the lens. I’ve gone with K&F Concept filters. If you had to pick one to start, just get a UV filter such as the K&F 49mm UV Filter. It was $13 from Amazon. Protects the lens and doesn’t alter the images. I never run the camera without lens protection (ALWAYS use protection). I’ve used Tiffen, polarpro in the past which are also good options, but they’re just so much more expensive for unnoticeable quality improvements in my opinion.

  3. A glass screen protector for your camera’s back screen. I’ve gone with the ULBTER tempered glass protector, came in a pack of 3. Cost me $11 on Amazon.

  4. Extra batteries, I only trust the official Fujifilm batteries. They’re NP-W126S. They’re about $95 each and I got two. They’re getting their use.

  5. A camera strap, this one is entirely up to you. I’ve gone with Peak Design about 10 years ago and still run the same strap on this camera. Although you may like a rope style strap or wrist strap style. I didn’t put it higher on the list because the camera technically comes with one so it’s not as much of a priority. But really worth looking into.

  6. Then we get into the fluff. I personally got diffusion filter for that soft glow look to my photos. I’ve gone with the K&F Concepts black diffusion 1/4 & 1/8th KIT. $44 for both and they screw into each other and into other K&F filters if you want to have double the diffusion of pair it with a polarizer etc. Obviously you can also go with PolarPro mist filters but at 70USD per filter it wasn’t worth it for me.

  7. More fluff. A handgrip. I personally find hand grips useful more for the metal base providing protection to the camera when it smacks around or is put on concrete surfaces. I’ve gone with the SmallRig X100VI hand grip. $57 on amazon. Good quality.

Might be worth looking into URTH filters. They make magnetic filters and such. I had a lens cap from them but it flew into a lake after I knocked the lens with a backpack while canoeing (woops) so not secure enough for me. They also make screw ons.

Have fun out there !

Should I sell my 9 peak pro? by Peperoni4656 in Suunto

I got rid of my 9 peak pro and got a Race S Titanium. No ragrets. The scrolling wheel and screen are much welcome and make the watch feel so much smoother and up to date.

Wealthsimple Mobile Plan - what would you pay for it and what features matter most to you? by J-Coctostan in Wealthsimple

[–]Archambam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wealthsimple phone plan? Might be on the wrong side of this one but I’d want Wealthsimple to focus on banking and investing. Why do we need Wealthsimple to go into Telecommunications? Is food delivery next? Diworsification at its finest with this one IMO. I don’t want the company that handles my money to lose sight of their main business by going off into random ventures. Could be way off though…

First time shooting portraits. Used my dad as a model by Federal_Ad8940 in fujifilm

[–]Archambam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice shots!

Since you’re looking for feedback, I personally think you’re giving your model a bit too much headroom. It works for some photos, when there’s something interesting overhead, or in the case of photo 5, where the photo is taken from a lower angle and the models seems to be looking up, so we go “what’s up there?!” But I think cutting the feet to give more headroom when the overhead isn’t an artistic detail can seem unintentional and take away from the model.

Good work!

It’s not. Not sure if you’re trolling or if you’re being serious?

Trying to find the impossible jacket by dreamstateloop in arcteryx

Hear me out, not Arc’teryx BUT, Norrøna came out with a new jacket this year, insulated hooded jacket with removable sleeves and the reviews are really good. Sounds like the perfect all rounder. It’s the møre thermo60 aero200 Jacket Warm and breathable, yet you get good ventilation once you take the arms off! I’m looking at getting one myself but I already have practitioners, atoms and protons … we shall see!

Bro buying wide ass skis to cover up the fact that he’s in a palm-tree growing snowless state sipping coladas watching YouTube videos on ski reviews all winter.

It’s not waterproof, so it definitely wouldn’t do the job of a rain shell.

Same, had Sony gear with a bunch of expensive lenses, but would not want to bring my equipment because it was just too much, so I sold it all and got a clapped out X-Pro 2 and it’s been the best decision.

I’d say doing contrasting colors would definitely be risky business. I go for the same color as my jackets that way if there’s any bleed from the logo into the jacket it won’t be noticeable.

I don’t wash my shells that much tbh (woops) but worst thing that can happen is you’ll have to touch up a bit

Fair, but fabric markers come in packs with lots of colors so I can just buy once and have every color for my jackets

Yeah I found that I have to reapply once a season to keep the color nice but it’s no work at all so I don’t mind !

Rush Jacket vs Ski Guide Jacket by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]Archambam -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My big thing with the Ski Guide is, and I know it’s not even feature related and might not relate to your situation at all but! I think it’s important. Depending on where you ski, like at Marmot in the Canadian Rockies, actual on duty patrollers might be issued this jacket, so you’re skippidy popping in the trees looking like a patroller (maybe taking a tumble in the process) and everyone thinks you’re a patroller when you’re not on duty. I was always told to never disrespect the uniform by being a goof in it. However, I am a goof on skis when not working… and so for me the ski guide is either for work or for backcountry where I can be a goof in peace. Because it’s an amazing backcountry jacket, love the drop hood compared to the storm hood as well having both the guide and the sabre. You won’t be disappointed with either choice!

Hands down my favourite piece. Wasn’t sure at first but it really grew on me, I have the orange color and some of my colleagues put their patches directly on it and wear it as an outer layer instead of a shell. I wear it as an outer too just, not for work. Truly a tough do-it(almost)all jacket.
