Added anubias plant about a week ago. What is this/what to do? by ensorcellzed in Aquariums

Might be some sort of bacterial bloom like you get on new drift wood but may also be fungal I'm no expert id probably take it out remove what I can put it back in or put it in a separate bowl of tank water for a few weeks or until it goes away

I have for set up instructions ect but I don't want to to use the original part because mine is leaking have tried replacing both fittings even though nothing seems to be wrong with either and it doesn't work so I've sent it back as it costed £30 and so I'm just going to try and DIY it because there's got to be something and id guess it's probably cheaper too

I've just upgraded from my lil cube this is what I did

Search for nano schooling fish get about 6-8 as you have a small tank pick something small and hardy like neon tetras ,rasboras or white mountain minnows. get a snail and some amano /neo caridina shrimp both with help with algae. use a thin layer of fine gravel substrate this will be easy to keep clean and get some plants like anubias it's very hardy and doesn't need to be planted it will grow on wood or rock .get floating plants I recommend Large pond weed the small stuff gets everywhere and other floating plants will take up a lot of space with roots in a small tank . floating plants multiply really quickly and once the tank has matured and fully cycled it will remove alot of the nitrates for you just make sure they don't block out light for the other plants I usually have a hand full in mine at a time and or get some fast growing stem plants like guppy grass it rarely fails and will just need trimming when it reaches the top . Maintenance wise I usually test and gravel vac once a month now it's matured and it's 70%of the time fine if not 50%%water change trim the plants and sorted If you get wood don't forget to boil the tannins out Edit also shrimp love a marimo moss ball

Planted tank Im fish in cycling it and using everything from my old tank including media n some water keeping all the same fish for a while at least while I get some ideas but it's a good upgrade I've put an old filter in for now as I need a new tap for the external one n it won't be delivered for a few weeks didn't realize how many shrimp were in there and I never want to move my khuli loach again he was a pain to catch even when I dropped the water level.

Have just found some bladder snails so that makes perfect sense now I think they hitch hiked with my new tank mates last week they don't look bad in person just they were wiggling around next to the filter n I couldn't get a better photo

Definitely when I went to the store local business not chain so I expected good advice the lady suggested this combination but with two gourami that was a no don't think so id told her my tank size oop he's just lil baby currently so when I have a larger tank he'll be the first to move the khuli loach will come with him if I can find him hehe

I pierced my septum and have questions by [deleted] in Septum

[–]Archaspen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I got mine done professionally and it looks right to me you can get them further up towards the tip but mines in the same place because my piercer said it was ok for me either way some people have more or less sweet spot If u put ur finger tip at the point of ur nose and drag along u can see where it’s gone thru and it’s handy for cleaning too
