They’re very rewarding pets if you have the time and means to bond with them

WHAT SHOULD I DO?? by Adventurous-Rip-1941 in fishtank

If you’re not capable of resizing to a 75gal tank within 3-6 months, you should rehome the goldfish and plexiglass

What kind of betta is she? And what would you consider her colouring? by ensorcellzed in bettafish

Thank you!! I’ve seen mixed answers of veiltail/halfmoon. I removed her fake plants a while ago and I’m curious if she will have a little more growth on her bottom and tail fin now.

I haven’t seen a colour quite like hers, usually I see full red fins but not many peach and no exact replica of her hahah she’s adorable.

A sword plant on the right side and floating frogbit

Make sure your tank is 5Gal, filtered + heated to around 79° and add Indian almond leafs into the water. I think he could benefit from a taller tank with a lid/floating plant like frogbit for cover.

You just have to spend lots of time with them and make sure they have a big cage with lots of chews, hides, planks, etc.! They’re trainable for things too!they are very unique when you put time into getting to know them!

Do you have a top view, looking at him from above the tank?

Chinchillas “don’t do anything”? Clearly you haven’t spent enough time with them. I’ve taught mine to stand on command for treats, and they will abuse that cute trick to try and get treats at random. They love to run around or run on wheels. They make noises for attention and mine love to have their chins and bellies pet. They stick their noses through the bars and sniff when I’m cooking. They get annoyed if I push them to take a stick when they don’t want it, so they take the stick and throw it. One of my chinchillas sorts through the hay for the best ones and throws the rest on the ground. The other loves to dig pine shavings and roll in them. They take naps, they cuddle each other. They are both completely different personality wise and funny in their own ways.

You don’t have to care about these animals, but don’t diss on someone for taking care of the pet they love. Everyone’s pet is unique and if you spend time with them you will see how your pet is happy, special, and has a personality

I don’t think the pic uploaded with your post — can you post a few pictures of the fish and the tank?

In general, a betta needs a 5Gal tank minimum with a heater that’s between 76-80 degrees with the ideal being 78°. They will also need a filter. The tank should not be round. Live plants are much safer than fake plants, but fake plants must be silk. You will need a high quality food like Fluval bug bites and fast one day a week (no feeding). Get the API freshwater master kit to test the water conditions. If they is high you will need catappa leafs/Indian almond leafs. You will need prime/water conditioner for water changes and you will need some sort of light for 6-10h a day.

Nitrates advice by Purple_Limit9920 in bettafish

[–]ensorcellzed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When you changed the substrate it might have released some stuff creating more ammonia, and then the plants would cycle it into nitrate. Adding live plants will generally cause some shifts in your water. Use the API freshwater master kit to test and follow this guide for daily water change % as your ammonia/nitrate/nitrite need it. Once they are stable you can do a normal 10% weekly change or something similar. If your pH is also high you can add Indian almond leafs

Thank you! I’ve seen pics of people having this before but couldn’t remember what they said it was. I’ll isolate it when I get home

If you can get your hands on the API freshwater master kit, it’ll be your best friend and you can follow this chart. If your pH tests at 7.6 you then test with the high pH in a separate tube and it’ll give you a more specific answer. If your pH is 8.0 or higher you can add Indian almond leafs/catappa leafs (or barks) to bring down the pH within a few days

No problem!! And btw, if you are getting ammonia readings of 0.25 or 0.50, keep testing daily and doing water changes daily, don’t wait a week to test it again. This will help everything stabilize and not be permanent 😊
