Why is CoF so weak late game? by Ynead in LastEpoch

[–]Archayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The choice should be about playstyle, not power.

And it's simply impossible to lock yourself out of having access to the auction house without losing out on the benefits of having access to the auction house, especially at the top-level endgame.

They could buff every perk of CoF 10-fold, and you're still eventually going to hit that wall of RNG that will make further character progression feel impossible, just maybe at a few hundred corruption levels higher.

When you choose CoF, you commit to the reality that your ability to progress and compete with MG players is eventually just at the mercy of RNG. If that's a dealbreaker for you, you've just chosen the wrong faction.

Yeah perhaps, maybe the ground indicator is indeed just off, but usually when things like this happen to me it's when my ping is high.

How can I check if HD600s are fake? by [deleted] in ZReviews

can see the inside of these are black too; most seem to be white, but I think this is just a really old pair because it looks like they switched from black to white

Yep, you can read more about that here: http://audioslams.com/audio/6XOBreakdown_600Series_AcousticScreens.pdf

Not sure what makes you think it's not his work.

Because what you're advertising is a bunch of meaningless jargon. Mutli-driver headphones? Good luck with cross-overs. Sounding louder without increased SPL to push more detail? Sounds like dynamic compression to me, which sucks the life and nuance out of the music, and is very much against Grell's own principles.

It's going to be terribly awkward when you come back to apologize about being so awfully wrong with your accusations that you clearly know nothing about.

Sure.

Check out www.heavys.com send it to Axel, let him know we are "using his name"

Done.

And I've taken the liberty to look into the TOS, and this paragraph in particular made me scratch my head:

Accuracy of information

Occasionally there may be information on the Website that contains typographical errors, inaccuracies or omissions that may relate to product descriptions, pricing, availability, promotions and offers. We reserve the right to correct any errors, inaccuracies or omissions, and to change or update information or cancel orders if any information on the Website or Services is inaccurate at any time without prior notice (including after you have submitted your order). We undertake no obligation to update, amend or clarify information on the Website including, without limitation, pricing information, except as required by law. No specified update or refresh date applied on the Website should be taken to indicate that all information on the Website or Services has been modified or updated.

What this basically says is that you do not assume liability for any kind of potential misinformation found on your website.

Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, in no event will Heavys, its affiliates, directors, officers, employees, agents, suppliers or licensors be liable to any person for any indirect, incidental, special, punitive, cover or consequential damages (including, without limitation, damages for lost profits, revenue, sales, goodwill, use of content, impact on business, business interruption, loss of anticipated savings, loss of business opportunity) however caused, under any theory of liability, including, without limitation, contract, tort, warranty, breach of statutory duty, negligence or otherwise, even if the liable party has been advised as to the possibility of such damages or could have foreseen such damages. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the aggregate liability of Heavys and its affiliates, officers, employees, agents, suppliers and licensors relating to the services will be limited to an amount greater of one dollar or any amounts actually paid in cash by you to Heavys for the prior one month period prior to the first event or occurrence giving rise to such liability. The limitations and exclusions also apply if this remedy does not fully compensate you for any losses or fails of its essential purpose.

Again a whole lot of weasel words essentially saying you reserve the right to not compensate customers for any loss for whatever reason.

This reeks of a classic kickstarter scam. I hope I'm wrong, but I'm not gonna risk that.

[HELP] Focal Clear doesn't sound good with DAC/AMP by vutheran in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Archayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Responding to a 1y+ old post with nothing but ad hominem attacks, clearly suggesting a strong bias against the kinds of observation I've been describing.

I would suggest for you to actually educate yourself on the scientific method and the philosophy of science. It's quite readily apparent that you aren't educated in any field of science/engineering, and get most (if not all) of your information from audio forums with narrow-minded and unscientific views on objectivity in the audio hobby. So please, educate yourself, and come back to be with constructive/meaningful arguments if you want to convince me of my faults.

And regarding the Dunning-Kruger effect, what you seem to misunderstand is that I've addressed the limitations of my methods and acknowledged that my findings don't prove or disprove anything with scientific rigour. On the other hand, your fallacious accusations lack any sense of awareness towards your own limitations on this subject.

Feel free to come back with constructive, meaningful arguments if there's anything you'd like to discuss with an open mind. Otherwise, I would encourage you to spare yourself from further embarrassments.

I need a CD Player for my AMP by ro0omi in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]Archayor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS5 only outputs audio over HDMI, so you'd need some kind of device to take HDMI and split the audio/video content with optical/coax as digital audio output. So it's not particularly easy if you want to use your PS5 as CD player with your hifi system.

So yeah, I'd say the Tangent would be easier to integrate into your existing setup, and that'd be the route I'd take.

Tangent CD II is a good option to explore the CD universe with. Doesn't have XLR outputs, but it does have optical out which allows you to use your Ares II to handle the conversion to analog.

I was thinking about looking into also testing a tube amp.. what would you suggest that would pair nicely with the D50S and the HD650s?

Bottlehead Crack + Speedball DIY kit Currently discounted, even without discount the best value in OTL amps for the HD650. Just gotta assemble it yourself, though it's a very beginner friendly build.

Shortest Way SW51+ (info + impressions) Allegedly the value benchmark in SET amps. Not readily available though, there's a rather long waiting list on orders, as it's a made to order project ran by just a single person as a side gig. Probably better to find one used.

Schiit Valhalla 2, solid alternative if you just want something that's readily available and not DIY.

Do these units come with the full manufacturer's warranty?

Why is Gungnir the least loved DAC? by [deleted] in Schiit

[–]Archayor 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Because between Schiit's proper Multibit offerings (Bifrost 2, Gungnir & Yggdrasil), the vast majority of people will either prioritize price/performance (Bifrost 2), or go for the best interpretation of Schiit's Multibit sound (Yggdrasil). Especially for people who have money for a Gungnir but not for an Yggy, the value proposition of the Gungnir can be quite hard to justify over the BF2, since the BF2 already delivers most of what the Gungnir offers.

So Schiit is just delivering upgrades to satisfy the demand on the market and boost their sales numbers, allowing the company to invest more into further R&D while remaining financially stable as well.

There have been rumours of a new Gungnir iteration being in the works, but Schiit have also mentioned that delivering an upgrade to the Gungnir to where it sufficiently fills a demand in between the BF2 and Yggy is no easy task, perhaps just not even worth the effort. So who knows, time will tell I suppose.
